Nice idea, but I honestly don't want to take out my 3DS anymore, and not because I'm not still using it.
Why? Too much valuable for me, both economically (I have more than 200 games installed on it) and sentimentally. For these reasons I wouldn't stand losing it in the wild, or watching it getting damaged in any way.
My Switch is more "expendable" so that's the system I take out with me.
Respect your elders
By the way, StreetPass was very nice, and I used it a lot, but I've already assumed it is gone (unless someone manages to get something like Homepass working again, ahem...)
@JJtheTexan Yes, I already knew about that, but thanks for the tip. I just bought my second Ages game and will repeat my vote for Daytona USA. Who knows... they might even listen to us
It was far better than I expected. Starting from the Castlevania inclusion (which I was praying for) to the huge music and stages collection, to King K. Rool, Monster Hunter and Shovel Knight assist, training modes ... everything was so good, from the beginning to the very end of the video.
Before this Direct I was not particularity hyped for this game. Now I am. Instant buy for me!
I'm a pinball enthusiast, having bought all 90+ tables from Pinball Arcade (around 250 euros) on my iPad, and enjoying them daily. These include hits from makers Williams, Bally, Gottlieb and Stern, since the 1960s to now, and I've yet to find a table in those 90+ that is as enjoyable as this little DSi game.
For me, it not only deserves a 10/10 perfect score, but in my opinion is the best pinball game EVER created. Too bad this gem is unknown to so many people... if you've got a 3DS, and are mildly intereseted in realistic pinball, do yourself a great favor and buy this game now.
No storage media is free from data degradation (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_degradation), but probably ROMs like the N64 uses are much less prone to it than, for instance, optical discs.
It is also amazing how few people know that Flash media (like pendrives or SD cards) are quite ephemeral... they only can hold data for a few years (10 or less) without being powered. If you thought that storing your backups in a USB flash drive was a good option, please think again.
And, seriously, you should be much more worried about one kind of digital storage media than can also be degraded: your DNA !! Yup, not even that is free from this problem (http://www.infostor.com/index/blogs_new/Henry-Newman-Blog/blogs/infostor/Henry-Newman-Blog/post987_162244910.html)
Tegra-X1 doesn't make sense as the final SoC for the NX, in my opinion. It uses a double set of 4-core CPUs (Cortex A-57 and Cortex A-53) that are largely redundant (A-53 being the low-power ones). I don't think Nintendo would like to ship a new console with a chip that comes with some useless stuff. And the new Denver architecture that the Tegra-X2 will reportedly use makes much more sense for a dedicated game machine like the NX. I'm betting for the X2, or something in between. The Tegra-N1?
I think the release pattern you said in your article is a key point here. Nintendo has always been deeply interested in creating a platform that allows existing games to be directly playable in new hardware releases, thus eliminating the typical game shortage at launch time.
Android games compatibility would help a lot, too.
I hate optical discs... They're noisy, slow, bulky and fragile, just to name a few of its drawbacks. They are a thing of the past, and the sooner we switch to Flash-like storage, the better for everyone.
And, probably the NX would not be able to use discs anyway: they don't like to be moved around while spinning. It's just another of its drawbacks.
Yes, I think one of the "parts" of the NX will be portable. Portable but not handheld. I even think Nintendo has shown that "part" to us all in this E3, but in a disguised form... let me see... He he he
This is actually good news. Nintendo prefers to make a damn good game instead of getting quick cash this year. Very few companies take that sort of decisions, believe me.

Can't wait for this one!
And please Sega, put Daytona USA in the pipeline too...
Re: Gone Home - A Peerless Masterclass In Interactive Storytelling Comes To Switch
Bought and played this one on Steam a while ago, and personally didn’t like it very much. I actually found it quite dissapointing and BORING.
I still don’t understand all the high scores this “game” has received over the years. I just can’t.

Re: Weirdness: Homebrew Enthusiast Gets Windows 95 Working on the New Nintendo 3DS
Mmm, I won't believe it is actually running Windows 95 until I see a proper BSOD (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death) on it.
