We are closing in on Nintendo's next major release, with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort primed and ready to launch on Switch 2 on 22nd October, and today, we've got an in-depth look at what we can expect from it.

The game's final previews are now live, with a bunch of outlets sharing their thoughts on Nintendo's sporting shenanigans. The good news is, they all seem rather positive.

Our very own Alex Olney went hands-on with seven different in-game sports, and left with the impression that it will be a "massive success":

They’re looking at a more casual audience, and I think anyone who had a good time with the original Nintendo Switch Sports is going to have a damned good time when Resort lands on 22nd October.

But Mr Olney isn't the only one to have shared his thoughts. Switch Sports Resort previews are now live across the web, and we have gathered a handful of them together so you can get an idea of the critical consensus so far.

Eurogamer starts us off strong, with the outlet praising the game's ruleset variety and open-world potential (particularly for skateboarding):

Switch Sports Resort is looking promising then, and suggests Switch 2 could have another family favourite hit to its name as it star-jumps into the festive season - especially if there's enough variety across its 12 events to ensure some proper sticking power.

Things were similarly optimistic from Game Informer, which gave a particular shoutout to the appeal of the single-player content:

Island Crown, in particular, sounds like a mode that will steal away hours of my time when the final game arrives.

IGN was surprised at just how much there is in this one for the hardcore Nintendo audience as well as more casual gamers:

After playing another hour plus and seeing how much fun I had in multiplayer, and how much there is to do in single player, it’s vaulted up to be one of my most anticipated games for the rest of the year.

Gamespot is a little more hesitant, finding a lot of fun in the preview, but wondering how it will all hold up in the long run:

While there was a good sampling of new activities, my brief time with them prevented me from answering my biggest question: How much mileage will they all have collectively?

Finally, Polygon was very optimistic after the preview, calling it the best the series has ever been:

The latest entry in the series, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, is the most comprehensive collection of motion-controlled, sports-based games yet, and it blends casual pick-up-and-play design with nods to Nintendo's classic games catalog.
