Ahead of its release on the Switch 2 this October, the reimagined platform adventure Rayman Legends Retold has received an award at Gamescom this week.

Ubisoft's upcoming release has officially won the best Nintendo Switch 2 game at the show. The nominees Retold was up against include Denshattack!, Mega Man: Dual Override, Nintendo Switch Sport Resort and OPUS: Prism Peak.

Here a message from the Rayman team about this:

"We are extremely proud to announce that Legends Retold has won the Gamescom Award of Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game. Thank you to everyone showing their love & passion for our limbless hero this week in Cologne."

According to Gamescom, the winners of each award were determined by both an "expert jury of gaming professionals" and the community via user votes.

Earlier this week, Ubisoft also released a new trailer for Rayman Legends Retold, showcasing the "Macarena" musical level. You can see it in motion in the video below:

"Dive into the tunes of the Glade of Dreams. Warm up your dance moves in "Macarena", a pasta-powered twist on a familiar dancefloor classic! Glide, jump and smash your way into Rayman Legends Retold's musical levels. Available October 1."

Apart from Rayman's win at Gamescom this year, Alien: Isolation 2 also took out "best audio", Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword won 'best gameplay', The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered won 'best trailer', and Sega won the 'best lineup' of the show. You can see every winner on Gamescom's website.
