Bandai Namco's long-awaited remaster package of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil is right around the corner and in anticipation of the adorable dream traveller's return, the company has released the opening cutscenes to both games in the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series collection.

This is the first time the games have been rereleased together, and the very first time that Lunatea's Veil has even seen a rerelease (after the first game got a Wii remake in 2009).

Door to Phantomile is the very first Klonoa game, and see's Klonoa team up with a ring spirit called Huepow. Together, they travel the world of Phantomile, a land that exists because of the dreams people have. The opening sees Klonoa meet with his new best friend and pull his main weapon — a magical ring — out of the ground, Excalibur-style.

We've mentioned it before, but this rerelease uses an art style that's much closer to the original PlayStation game, with Klonoa's shorter and pudgier look retained.

The sequel, Lunatea's Veil, happens sometime after Klonoa's adventures in Phantomile — and is even set after the GBA title Empire of Dreams. Now in a new world, Klonoa must save the land of Lunatea after being approached in a dream by a mysterious voice.

Lunatea's Veil has only ever been released on the PS2 before this collection. It retained the 2.5D style that the first game was known for, while introducing a brand new cast of characters and a brand new outfit for our cute little anthropomorphic anima friend.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series releases on 8th July on the Switch. You can pre-order the game from the official website, or via Amazon.
