In what is a very rare occurrence indeed, Nintendo Switch consoles are available at a significantly reduced price in the US today.
A number of retailers have been slashing the price of the standard Nintendo Switch model to just $259.99, down from $299.99. While Amazon and Walmart were also offering this lower price earlier today – since selling out or putting the prices back up – GameStop still have discounted stock at the time of writing.
If you or someone you know has been on the lookout for a Switch console, now's a fantastic time to jump in – it's hard to say just how long these reduced consoles will remain in stock:

cool, just in time for me to have bought myself a Switch V2 two weeks ago!! 🥴
Switch 2 confirmed comments incoming:
Here we go. Getting rid of the stock before the september release of the Switch 2.
Right?…… Right?
@thwomp_stomper you beat me to it
Looks like this deal has already wiped out Amazon US's stock of Switch units.
Nintendo's just clearing out inventory, just like me with my backlog .
@Friendly well… we should see a new SKU in 2023, if the pattern holds true.
We saw the Switch Lite and v2 in 2019, then the OLED in 2021. Every other year, they added a new SKU to the Switch family.
But there are chip shortages!!! How can that be
Pretty sure the OLED model was suppose to replace the V2, it’s just the “rumored Pro model” was the new SKU that was cancelled due to chip shortages.
However, if the theoretical replacement for the V2 could have been just the screen and it would have been the V2OLED with nothing else changed. Maybe the kickstand, but the storage and dock would have been reserved for the “rumored” model.
Waiting for a good deal on the OLED, if they slash that too I may get a second one.
I think it's funny how they put the prices back up after selling out. Like they realised too late it was a mistake or something lol.
I would hope they reduce the price even more since they are 6 year old tablets with 9 year old proccessor tech in them lol.
Yaaaaas. I already have 1. But still, let's get a few extra sales to compensate for what they are down in projection. (Though, 20 million units forecasted is still amazing. But what do I know?! Hah)
This means Switch NeXtGen is coming. Prices don't drop unless something is coming. v2 or OLED prices don't just drop for something they can squeeze bloodmoney from.
And this is the part where people take this as gospel for the Switch 2 despite it making no sense to release it or even mention it
@Jokerwolf yeah the switch is way overpriced for the outdated tech it has I got mine with my phone contract but I wouldn't have been able to justify a £300 purchase for the hardware if I hadn't
@Jokerwolf 9 year old processor tech? The Tegra X1 wasn't announced until CES 2015, let alone made available.
This is the sell through to make the OLED the new flagship model.
Maybe the parts shortage is making Nintendo focus only on two models instead of three?
Are these Switches the ones with improved battery over those at launch?
@Skunkfish The moment they announced it I can garauntee it was out of the design stages and probably already being mass produced. Which means it probably was finished a year or so before that. Regardless it is slightly overpriced based on what is in it.
Gamestop is such scum.
Pokemon Let's Go Eevee was on sale at Best Buy for $30.
I noticed on DekuDeals that GameStop was price matching.
I go to Best Buy, but it sold out right away.
Determined to get it for half off, I turn to GameStop's website to buy it there.
They immediately removed the discount the minute Best Buy's stock ran out.
"Oh that's right; I'm never buying anything from Gamestop ever again."
So I'm guessing this doesn't apply to the switch lite?
@Thwomp_Stomper,
Or the Switch Pro....
@Ulysses Don't get me wrong, GS sucks. But for price matching, that is pretty common.
So, I'm not seeing the $50 off.
Guys, they just went on sale. That doesn’t mean a pro is coming out. People really grasp at straws with this topic.
@Ulysses it may be too late now but for the future I always recommend Target. Aside from being just generally an enjoyable shopping experience, Target price matches with little hassle. Meanwhile, GameStop is trash and acts like you’re robbing them when you try to price match.
@Ks123 Good advice! I much prefer Target if I can help it.
