LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has finally arrived, and though the game had multiple delays it seems to have been worth the wait; we gave it a hearty recommendation in our review. As you'd expect it's now had a launch trailer to celebrate and get fans ready to play.
As a recap this game tells the story of all nine main film episodes, giving you the choice of starting on Episode I, IV or VII as you please. On top of the usual LEGO slapstick and 'smash everything' gameplay, it has a lot of new mechanics and modernisations. There's also a large world / galaxy to explore, with lots of optional content to keep you busy.
Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments, and if you're planning to pick it up; its Switch port is a good 'un, too.

Installed and ready to go when I get home, been waiting forever for this.
advertising the Deluxe Edition when you cant get it anywhere? Brilliant!
Anyways, need to finish Kirby first, then I will get on to this
My hype for this game hit a brick wall on Saturday. I am still exited and will get it. But I want to play paper Mario games right now, so I will pick it up either when it goes on sale or when I want to play lego games. Whichever comes first.
I never paid any attention to this or any LEGO games until I read the NL review yesterday and then watched a gameplay trailer. I was floored. I had no idea these games had the kind of gameplay I saw. Open world? LEGO construction? X-Wing dogfights? I thought they were just glorified visual novels tbh.
I'm seriously considering getting this now. Most Star Wars games are terrible but this actually looks fun.
I have been looking forward to it, but will wait for a used copy or a discount. No rush.
No online multiplayer, no buy. A real bummer.
Normally, I wait on Lego games because they wind up on perma-sale. But I did pick this one up on launch day. If they take the time to create such a massive title that's fun to play, I should reward them for that with my cash in hopes they make another one like it. Perhaps redo the Indiana Jones entries
@sleepinglion does Lego still have the rights to Indiana Jones? haven't seen any sets for a while
@BirdBoy16 That's a good point, man. I don't know
Another funny trailer! I'm digging the funky Ewoks and the movie-authentic music and voice acting. The 9 movies weren't perfect, but surely there is a lot to love in each (in varying proportions ) and this game looks like a heartfelt celebration of all that good stuff.
It's been a long wait and I'm looking forward to picking up my preorder tonight!
I'm actually somewhat skeptical at how well this game runs. For a new engine, this is their first entry into a new generation of gaming, but also an area of which they need that balance with older generations. Not many LEGO games have a good track record of running well (especially Jurassic World), so I hope this ultimately fixed all of those issues.
I look forward to seeing Digital Foundry's tech analysis of the Switch version
Played A New Hope story, (up until meeting Han) and we are in for a treat. You can choose freely choose Episodes 1, 4, and 7 (you unlock the other chapters as you play), gameplay it's still really easy but they added a couple more things like combos, command actions, things to discover in every scene, And by the way, they are big, and there's a lot to do. The sound effects and music are the same as in the movies (couldn't be any other way). Visually looks good, I'll wait for Digital Foundry to see what they have to say about the game, but so far I think this will be one of the best Star Wars Games.
I broke down and pre-ordered the digital deluxe version last night. Originally was going to wait for a sale, but the review got my hyped. Was also thinking about buying on Steam instead to play on my Steamdeck when I get it (hopefully later this month), but apparently it is currently unsupported. Hopefully it will become supported and I will pick it up on sale for Steam at a later date if I enjoy it on Switch.
Might get this eventually, still gotta shave Lego DC Supervillians off my backlog. I do remember playing Lego Force Awakens on Xbox and enjoying it a good bit.
@Gwynbleidd oh my goodness gracious, patience. Its finally here, its incredible, ya dont need to poop on it for taking time to make. Of course not saying you HAVE to play it, but if the wait irked you this much, then i feel like you have your priorities mixed. I mean i cant buy it right now because, yknow, life, but id like to. Also want to play kirby but cant rn because life but hey what are ya gonna do. If you want to enjoy a game, thats awesome. But dont bring down the mellow of a cool game coming out!
@Gwynbleidd i mean are you sure? did you play the game, and how is the dlc coming out w/ the game anti-consumer? I mean i get the fact that you should get the full experience, but thats just kind of buisness as usual. I really cant think of a reason why it wouldnt be worth the wait unless youre not a fan of the series. The pros easily outweigh the cons imo
Thinking of going for this, I got the DC Villains game some time ago and lost interest after some time. No idea why...might as well try a different Lego game, right? lol
@Gwynbleidd i mean you need to play it if you wanna know if its worth it. and i really dont see how skins are anti consumer, given that all of them are only a 10 extra dollars. I mean if it bothers you, then ok, but it just seems so miniscule compared to something like pokemon unite or any free-to-play game or dlc that adds actual content and launches the same day. I see where youre coming from, but ya gotta pick and choose your battles. And i really dont think this one is worth all this trouble. of course none of this is saying you HAVE to like the game, just that making this the reason and that youd like the game other wise is a little silly. Let me know if thats the reason
@ModdedInkling It runs well on Switch. Pretty much a locked 30 frames per second. Graphics are not bad, although dynamic resolution and pop-in are occasionally evident.
@Gwynbleidd The DLC is just additional characters. Keep in mind, the game comes with over 300 playable characters out of the box, so the DLC is certainly not essential.
