UK physical chart data is now in (later than usual) for the week ending 11th December, showing that Switch titles are still performing well in stores.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the top performer on Switch, though has dropped down to third place. FIFA 22 has reclaimed its crown, and a slightly startling statistic is that 22% of its sales were the 'Legacy' edition on Switch.
Both of the recent Pokémon titles, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, continue to hold top 10 places, as do Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Minecraft. Just Dance 2022 is still going well ahead of the festive season, with a whopping 89% of its copies being sold for the Switch.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:

Just played a bit in fifa 22 for ps4. I wish I didn’t, cause this fifa legacy switch got it feels like a 20 year old game. How people can still buy something like this for switch?
@clianvXAi because often they don't know better. One-console households where parents are buying for kids for example. This perhaps is what makes this scummy practice of EA even worse.
@clianvXAi Because they love football?
Nintendo would make so much money if they'd put out a new Mario Kart...
[Insert MK9 comment here]
@Pillowpants Nintendo also makes much money without putting out a new Mario Kart
@clianvXAi If you're new to Switch and want a football game there's not that many other options. TBH feeling like a 20yo football game not a bad thing given the last couple I played on Xbox were awful.
Just noticed Halo in there too - Pretty impressive given it's on Game Pass
@clianvXAi Based on personal experience, a large number of people who play FIFA don't have much of a clue about video games in general so they probably wouldn't even know what they're buying.
4th is pretty impressive for Halo Infinite considering it's both on Game Pass and the multiplayer is FTP so you'd be buying the disc just for the campaign.
@mariomaster96 Kinda obvious, yeah
If one is to believe the rumors of a “Switch 2” upgraded model, and being that we are a couple of months from its 5 year anniversary, it is hard to think it is not at least in its intermediate stage of design and production, I think the plan would be that MK9 is going to be a launch title to soup up sales, get the install base and continue getting some 3rd party support.
@BenAV And why would they need any clue in video games? Alot of people that buys fifa or nba most likely just having fun with friends playing it. Do they need for example care for Resident Evil? Heck no.
Man Mario Kart 8 is doing well for a Wii U game.
😜
@GrailUK Yeah, you took the words right out of my mouth`)
@iaLgan My point is that it could be the worst game ever made but probably wouldn't know before buying it.
Great to see Mario Kart doing well, but it’s just not a very good game. I’ve played most of the courses before, there’s no single player progression, and the rubber-banding/item drop is just ridiculous. Someone please remake Diddy Kong Racing…
@Bondi_Surfer I would say no no to this It's a great family friendly game. But i would agree on Diddy Kong Racing that should be released !!! Remake or not.
@GrailUK I love stealing cars but that wasn't enough for me to purchase the GTA Trilogy...
MK8 overtaking Gen I Pokemon in sales seems a given at this point, assuming Wii U and Switch sales are included. It might already have done so. It's pretty close to NES/Famicom/FDS sales of Super Mario Bros. as well. This is the kind of unstoppable titan we're dealing with.
@Skunkfish I get your arguement but it's a different kettle of fish. Erm...can you get me a red Ferrari Testarosa please?
where is Dread??¿¿ sad...
That's kind of promising for FIFA and Switch.
While it may not be so popular here, it's a positive sign that may get EA thinking about an improved FIFA version, perhaps other sports games. I would still like to see Madden on a Nintendo console again.
Not holding my breath though.
What about hardware sales in the UK?
I would love to have just played my FIFA 20 copy and not upgraded for a few team changes, but the online servers are empty and EA knows that.
I miss Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
@mariomaster96
And don’t Nintendo know it, we should have by now.
BOTW 2
Mario Odyssey 2 or new 2d platform game
Mario kart 9
3d donkey Kong game
I think their true in house development teams must have gone to the Nintendo world theme park.
If the switch had stopped selling and the two new generation consoles where readily available all the time, the in house studio games situation may be a bit more forthcoming.
@BenAV agree
@BoostPower Dread is not a 10 million seller. Come on did you really think that Metroid Dread will still be in top 10 after 2 months. It will sell around 3 million worldwide.
Poor Mario party Superstars should be in top 5!
Where’s WaveRace 4?! And Pikmin 4?! And 1080 Snowboarding Switch Ed? And and and …
Mk8 is the de facto pack in game, even tho it’s not packed in. Happy for Nintendo but not so much for loyal fans like me. Series needs a console refresh!
@Mythra I know. More sad…
@clianvXAi to be fair it plays very much like FIFA 14 did. Which was a peak for me for FIFA games.
MK8D has that Halo 1 effect.
Back in the early 00s, when you bought an Xbox you bought Halo. It was not only because it was a great game, but you just seemed pressured by some sixth sense to do so.
Same thing with MK8. Even though I’m probably the only Switch owner who doesn’t have it.
The weird thing is, I remember when working in a games store, the used games coming in were almost the same list, but last year's game. Towers of CoD, Fifa,... All the popular games on all the platforms, often mere days after launch they started coming back. But the best selling Nintendo games rarely came back used. And those were the Wii and DS days, so Nintendo games sold like crazy. Maybe because of the much wider (and less 'hardcore') user base and broader selection of genres?
So they both keep selling them at full price like it's nothing, AND they rarely came back (of course they did come back, but never that we had a large quantity of any of them used in store). WHERE ARE ALL THESE GAMES GOING? (both the Nintendo ones that didn't come back, and the truckloads of Fifa that after two years won't even sell for 2 euro's)
@Pillowpants If it's among the best selling games at full price, why would they replace it in such a hurry? Many franchises wouldn't be on this list if they did not have a yearly replacement, but I think MK wouldn't be if it DID.
It's deceptive to see MK doing so well for so long, years and years after its release, and think developing a new MK makes sense. I suspect that demand for Mario Kart is only for one game. Whichever iteration that is, people will buy one Mario Kart per console generation and leave it at that. MK is a simple formula and MK8 suffices.
Developing and releasing a new game would cost money, eat up all of MK8's sales and open only a small pool of people willing to buy two versions of MK on Switch. It's not really worth it, is it?
@Purgatorium Yeah and it's quite sad as well, considering that this is a Wii U port and the game I played the most online on Wii U.
@BlueOcean Yeah I think I get why people are so annoyed with ports. Having never owned a Wii U it doesn't bother me. I skipped the last generation so it's nice for me, but it must be getting frustrating at this point.
@Purgatorium I like ports, I have bought tons of ports and remakes for Xbox and I don't mind them on Switch because many people don't have a Wii U. The problem is that most Switch games (developed by Nintendo, I mean) are overpriced ports and the cross-buy option didn't exist at any point, that's the problem we have with Switch.
MK8 is the new GTAV confirmed.
@NEStalgia MK8 DX Ultimate for Switch 2 confirmed.
@BlueOcean Plus special surprise announcement on Twitter: Original Excite Bike bike with authentic 8-bit skin will be added to the MK 8DXU roster! $18.99 DLC. Available for a limited time only, while supplies last, some exclusions apply. Active NSO subscription required. Limit one per family plan.
@NEStalgia Ha ha ha. Expansion Pack grants access to limited-time demo of Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
@Pillowpants clearly nintendo has no incentive to do that lol.

@mariopartyfan68 thank you for saying this mariopartyfan68, I agree with you Sony is very corrupt, and they are just like EA, how people can stick up for such disgusting companiess, is beyond me. That is why I am a Nintendo fan Sony deserves to fail.
@michellelynn0976 thank you Michelle, I am glad you Agee, Sony should not get a free pass for all the corrupt things they do.
@michellelynn0976 @mariopartyfan68
Why both of you are keep roasting Sony and PS5 ? 🤨
PS5 still looks good, tho.
@Anti-Matter Well, I am happy Nintendo is starting to do well in the UK.
