In the Summer NIS America revealed The Cruel King and the Great Hero, which was good news for fans of Sayaka Oda and his previous release - The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. It has a similar eye-catching visual approach, and now the new title has a gameplay trailer (above) to build the anticipation.
It's due to arrive on 4th March, and below is part of the game's official description.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a role-playing game. Join a young girl named Yuu on quest to become a great hero, participating in memorable adventures in the process.
The world is a magical one--you'll explore whimsical forests depicted in a comforting hand-drawn artstyle, encounter and battle monsters, and even build relationships with some of them.
This may not be your first adventure, but it is Yuu's, and she's going to need all the help she can get.
We can expect to fight monsters, explore through '2D scroller' environments, and also find hidden items to unlock extra goodies.

I can spare interest in small to midsized RPGs but they need to have a praiseworthy gameplay hook for me to consider. I play so few RPGs.
So adorable and I love the music.
Enjoyed Liar Princess so I am looking forward to getting this new game.
The Liar Princess remains one of my top favourites on Switch, and this one promises a lot of the same impressions... plus belonging to one of my favourite genres. It and the long awaited Rune Factory 5 could be the only two 2022 releases and still make my year as a Switch owner. :3
The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince was charming but not as enjoyable. Hopefully this one hold my interest for the long run.
The art is super cute. I have far too many rpgs in my backlog, but I'll at least keep an eye out on this one.
Gives me Paper Mario vibes and that right there makes me happy.
As someone who greatly enjoyed Liar Princess, really charming and sweet little game with some good puzzles in it imo, I'm really looking forward to this one.
I hope this game is a bit meatier though, Liar Princess only took me around 3-4 hours to complete and that's really short, even if the game was only 20 bucks.
(still irks me that the only way to get a physical copy of Liar Princess here in Europe is to import the Story Book Edition from the US and that thing costs an arm and a leg v.v)
@NinChocolate I thought thiswas a puzzle game
