Yesterday, we found out how Fire Emblem: Three Houses would receive some post-launch content, adding in an "even harder mode" as a free software update later this year.
Refocusing on its big launch, the game has received a day one update. Version 1.0.1 makes a few minor adjustments and fixes various issues to enhance the gameplay experience. Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of Perfectly Nintendo:
- Adds an “Additional Contents” link to the Nintendo eShop on the Title Screen.
- You can now change the outfit of the protagonist in your room, in the Monastery. (If you buy the Expansion Pass, you can switch to the Officers Academy Uniform)
- This change is only reflected in the Monastery and during battles.
- Fixes various issues to improve the gameplay experience.
Read more about the "super-hard" mode coming to the game later this year in our previous post. And if you are still on the fence about whether or not to pick up the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series, be sure to check out our review.

Sure, but how big is the patch?
I heard there is some controversy regarding one of the voice actors, and that Nintendo even removed his name from Fire Emblem Heroes
Cue the "how dare they fix bugs on day 1!" people.
@ALinkttPresent there always has to be some "controversy". Personally, I'd rather not hear about it.
@Heavyarms55 Why start a conversation with someone who knows about it then?
@ALinkttPresent Because I have as much right to share my opinion as you do and because unless I never read about this game again I wont be able to avoid it anyway. Every game I like something has to happen to soil it. It's impossible to talk about Sword and Shield positively, now Fire Emblem has something going on and it will probably take over the conversation. Negativity always wins.
What happened with the voice actor? Can someone care to tell?
@ricardosteve Apparantly the male bylenth admitted to some accusations that he abused someone so they took his name out of feh credits, that's all I know and honestly I could care less, and it doesn't change my perception of the game at all. Totally agree with heavyarms
@ricardosteve this is from his Tumblr i got from a article. I too was curious after reading the comment section.
"My name is Christopher Niosi; also known as Kirbopher. I am 30 years old and for about half of my lifetime, I have horribly mistreated and abused friends, colleagues and even my significant others. It is time that I addressed each and every one of those people and responded to their feelings with individual apologies for what I’ve done to hurt them. This will be a masterpost containing all of the appropriate posts in one location, so that the people they have been written for, along with anyone else who wishes to read them, can easily access the information."

Male Byleth rarely ever talks, maybe only in battles?
Volunteering information like that online is incredibly foolish. Social media mobs don't care about or believe in forgiveness. To them, apologies are a sign of weakness and vulnerability and, like sharks that smell blood, they'll move in for the kill.
If he believes he wronged people, he should actually attempt to make amends instead of making a public spectacle out of this.
Anyway, I believe the guy also voiced Therion in Octopath.
Let's not act like every other actor/voice actor on the planet is a perfect angel that has never, ever done anything wrong in their personal life not once. Nintendo let him keep his job likely because what happened was outside of work and he was able to settle it there. There might be tons of things your favorite VA has done that you may not approve of. But so long as it's nothing completely illegal or morally reprehensible, then I believe we should find the speck of dust in our own eyes before we look for someone else's.
Am I defending his actions? No. But he owned up to it, so I'm willing to put that aside as I play the game.
@Thwomp_Stomper
Why on earth would anyone post that on the internet.
People trying to air personal drama on the internet are annoying. If he committed a crime, take it to the police. If not, I don't wanna hear about it. Settle it amongst yourselves.
@Heavyarms55
I'd try to ignore this kind of stuff.
Things are getting overblown all the time anyway, with Pokémon SnS being a prime example of that (and yes, I am aware that people do not want to read this), overblown and completely based on assumptions. Then there is the audacity of using words like "lazy" in an industry where overwork and unpaid extra hours are common place...
In case of FE and the voice actor: why should it matter what he did? A lot of people put a massive amount of work into this game and because one little voice actor did something (?) the whole game is bad?
The guy could be a murderer and I would still buy the game, because he is just that small of a cog in that whole machinery.
We seem to forget the most fundamental question more and more: Is the game likely to be fun, as a whole?
People make the mistake of demanding more and more without realizing it is actually "more" that they are asking.
There is always the assumption of stuff being easy to do, which, in software development, is usually wrong in the end.
And of the hundreds of people working on a game these days every single one of them must be a great guy who never did anything wrong.
More and more growing demand resulting in more and more overwork and expensive games, again resulting in more and more rushed games, since they would get too expensive otherwise...
This is what will likely lead to the next video game crash, mark my words.
All because of what you just mentioned: "negativity always wins".
Don't let it do that.
Now this text got much bigger than I wanted, but I really wanted to get a point across, because I think this is a very big issue we have in the games industry.
@Kirgo Pokemon was just one example. I've found throughout my life that people gravitate toward the negative. If there is something bad, people will focus on it, not the good. People latched onto their issue with animations and the incomplete Pokedex and now that negativity dominates the conversation.
If this issue with this voice actor becomes widely known, it will probably grow to dominate the conversation about this game. No one will be talking about this game without debating endlessly on how we should think about this wife beating jerkwad. I say leave that to the police and courts. I don't want Fire Emblem Three Houses to become like Pokemon Sword and Shield - something you can't like or talk about without being considered "part of the problem". I don't like this sense of "you have to be outraged about this thing because all these other people are too".
@Bliquid Yes, I would love a patch fixing the frame rate in Fire Emblem. At least lock it at 30fps, like they did with Breath of the Wild(pretty much locked 99% of the time). It would be even better if they add a performance mode where resolution is dropped as low as needed for smooth 60 fps graphics! Can't wait to play this game though!
@Heavyarms55 please don’t let negativity win. I’ve been a Michael Jackson fan for over 25years, he was a man who brought pure joy to literally countless millions from before he was ten years old, till the day he died. Yet all you will hear and read about is Wacko this, surgery that and you know what else. He brought pure joy but the media and sometimes people in general are not interested in positivity and the truth, they want scandal. Sometimes people are just mean spirited, but that’s their problem. Enjoy your games, find the joy in what you love and don’t let anyone ruin it.
@Heavyarms55 Ironically, despite not wanting these games to be known for their controversies, you've moved the entire comments thread into talking solely about it. I had to double check whether the article even mentions it and nope, it doesn't.
Note: I know you weren't the first to mention it, but I feel the conversation would have died if left alone.
Just play the games and enjoy. I'll be buying Sword or Shield, my physical copy of Fire Emblem comes today, I preloaded the digital one last night and Michael Jackson is a fantastic musician that I wouldn't let babysit children. All these things have 'something' surrounding them that I don't like, but I don't care, I still like and will enjoy the end product.
Just enjoy things. Don't focus so much on the negative that you say to hate but is all you've talked about. I hope you've at least got it out of your system. Go play Fire Emblem.
@Tao While I acknowledge that I kinda shot myself in the foot this time, this topic got it's own article shortly after on NL and already had articles on other sites. Fact is, nothing I pointed out is wrong. As soon as something negative pops up, it dominates the conversation. Joycon drift, Pokedex issues, psychotic scumbag voice actors... Every time.
@Tao Jackson can be a brilliant musician and also innocent. He wouldn’t have asked to babysit your kids, false allegations are a thing, hopefully you and I will never be a victim of them, in life or death.
@Jolt Not very big. It took just a few seconds to download and install.
@farmer_humpf Thank you for the reply! Can't play it until Monday so I just wanted to be prepared
@MartyFlan False allegations are a thing but I've always been split on whether I believe the claims against him. On one hand he did and admitted to doing a lot of creepy things seemingly unaware how weird it was...On the other, wouldn't a man with seemingly so little self awareness admit to diddling children?
I never let that stop me enjoying what he did with his career though.
@Tao diddling children... your language, that term is creepier than anything he supposedly ‘admitted’ to doing. He admitted nothing, you make it sound like he confessed to something, if you’d like to elaborate I’m sure I have the factual, non tabloid version.
@MartyFlan He admitted to sleeping in the same bed as children. "It's the most loving thing a man can do". I dunno, that seems far worse than me using the term diddling.
@Tao your use of the word admit is wrong, it makes it sound like a confession. He wasn’t being probed, interrogated, he didn’t blurt it out under fierce questioning. ‘It’s the most loving thing a man can do’ Your quote is wrong too, twisted just enough to make it sound sinister. He DID say, though, ‘when you say bed you’re thinking sexual, they make that sexual’ I have no desire to share my bed with anyone beyond my wife and on occasion my kids, but to simply share your bed is not on its own criminal, however unusual, strange, weird or stupid it might seem to most. An actual child molester is unlikely to casually tell the world that, sure, a child can stay in my bed, if they want.
@Thwomp_Stomper yeah, that's a common rehab or psychotherapist requirement, to make a list & make amends with everyone you have wronged. It is used for addictions, abuse, and all kinds of treatment, so it's not really possible to narrow down the reason I behind this post, just that it's very common when someone seeks help in some regard from a therapist.
@Heavyarms55 I don't see how joycon drift shouldn't dominate the conversation. A large percentage of customers got screwed. The other stuff, fine, but faulty hardware, etc should always get airtime to help the folks who got assed out, warn those who may be assed out before long, or prevent others from it.
