We wouldn't usually get all that excited about a lamp, but this particular design has caught our attention for all the right reasons. Introducing the 'Light Up The World NES Controller Lamp'.
Featuring a Super Mario Bros. design around the lampshade itself, this USB-powered contraption is inspired by the classic NES console. Our favourite part has to be the NES controller switch, though, which uses the face buttons to turn the lamp on and off, the D-Pad to control the brightness, and a cable which doubles up as the main support for the whole thing. Incredible.
It's not the cheapest lamp you can buy, coming in at a cool £32.99, but it is officially licensed and would look great sitting alongside your gaming collection. If you're interested in pre-ordering one, you can do just that over at Merchoid.
The site says that the lamp is expected to ship in June so if you do order one now, you won't have too long to wait until it arrives.
Hands up, then... Who's getting one of these? Let us know down below.

I would have hoped it would rotate with Mario running round the level
Cool, that's during my birthday month. What do Start and Select do?
Shut up and take my money.
I told my wife we should get this and put it in the Movie Room in the Basement and i was shoot down. But hey at least she lets me keep my Super Rare Games, Limited Run Games, and Strictly Limited Games Collection in the Basement.
I was hoping that the lamp was LCD, and you could actually play it (could work if the lamp rotated). Yeah... I want it all! 😆
It's not playable?
Lame.
That's a little rich for me @PBandSmelly. I do have several games that are worth/selling for $300-$2500. But that's only because i bought them at launch or decades ago. I've only payed $200 0r more for one game in my life.
Ooooh now that is just beautiful. It would be even cooler (and of course more expensive) if the lamp shade was actually a thin wraparound screen that had an animation of Mario running across in a loop stomping out goombas.
...typical Nintendo fan right here; always wanting more. Lol
EDIT: I see we have A BUNCH of Nintendo fans here wishing for more too! 😝
This is neat, but not the kind of Mario theme furniture I would want.
Though I do love the idea of the NES controller as the base and on/off switch, the lampshade has too much going on to put in a living room, and I don't really need a lamp in my game room. Now if the shade were a little more subtle with that stand, I would like it more!
i might get one of these. (if the need to get one comes)
to bad there is not an option to make it playable for when you turn it on..... it would make an interesting way to sneak in video games before going to bed...
That's pretty nice.
