Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is home to some of the Paper Mario series’ most beloved partners. Most of these partners automatically join you as you progress through the story, but there’s actually one partner in this game who’s completely optional: Ms. Mowz!

Ms. Mowz is an expert thief, and you’ll encounter her multiple times during the first few Chapters of the game. Once you’ve cleared Chapter 4, you can add her to your team by completing a small side quest.

In this guide, we'll tell you how to recruit Ms. Mowz in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

How to get Ms. Mowz

As is the case with most of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’s side quests, this little adventure will take you to the Trouble Center in Rogueport. As we mentioned before, you’ll need to have cleared Chapter 4 to access this request.

Accept the hidden report called 'Elusive Badge' and you’ll be asked to meet Ms. Mowz on the roof of Zess T.’s house. Get there via the Rogueport Inn’s second floor and she’ll then ask you to retrieve a Badge hidden in Hooktail Castle.

Head to Hooktail Castle through Petal Meadows and make your way up to the room where you fought Hooktail. Towards the center of the room, you’ll notice an exclamation point. Use Flurrie to blow away the cover and you’ll find the Badge Ms. Mowz wants in a treasure chest underneath – Attack FX B.

Head back to Rogueport, give her the Badge, and she’ll join your party! This whole request was actually an elaborate test to prove Mario’s thief skills.

Ms. Mowz's abilities

Since she’s a completely optional partner, Ms. Mowz’s overworld ability isn’t a huge game-changer. She can sniff out hidden treasure and items nearby, but Ms. Mowz’s potential lies in her battle moveset.

She can attack enemies with her Love Slap move, which deals standard damage to an enemy while ignoring any defense boosts it may have. She can steal enemies’ items and even heal Mario with a smooch after you’ve upgraded her! Overall, Ms. Mowz is certainly worth your time if you’re looking to expand your partner roster. You can find out more about her moves in our Party Member guide.
