I recently got my wii repaired so it could play the Metroid Prime Trilogy and ever since I got it back it's been making noises that it's never made before while I'm playing. It's like the sound of a dvd player when it's trying to read a scratched up disc. The games I'm playing have absolutely no scratches on them and they play just fine just with added crunching noises. This isn't my real problem though, my big problem is that I had trouble turning off my wii.
I just finished a session of gaming so I saved my game and turned it off. The screen went blank just like it should when you turn it off and my wiimote turned off but my wii kept running and the green light stayed on. So I tried turning it off using the power button on the wii and it just wouldn't respond. So I had to unplugged it to turn it off. This has only happened once so far and it was less than an hour ago.
I have no idea if these two things are related but it's really worrying me. What should I do?
The second thing happened to me twice. It's nothing to be worried about though since nothing wrong has happened to my wii after that. However, i don't know what is making the sound. Maybe you can bring it back so you can get it checked.
My friend's Wiis make that annoying disc scratching sound. It doesn't really affect the game though and I dont think that is much of a problem. As long as the turning it off thing doesn't happen again I think you should be fine

my Wii used to make an annoying sound when loading any game, and i just sent it to Nintendo and when it came back, it wasn't makig noises. i don'tknow why it made those sounds, or what would happen if i didn't get it fixed, but i recommend sending it in.don't kow about the second thing, though
@SZM I should still be able to go on today but if I send my wii to Nintendo yet again (this would be the third time) I won't be able to play for a long time. Even worse, if they lose my save data I'll have to start over.
Omg that would suck. If you have to start over I'd help you and I'm sure lotsa other people would be more than happy to help as well. Us MH3 nerds stick together Hmm why have you had to send it in 2 times already?

When did you get your Wii? The reason I ask is cause I got my Wii at launch and mine too makes that noise and to be truthfully it never worried me. I dont know if newer model Wiis make that noise I just know that mine has made it for awhile and I play it alot and never had anything happened to the games or the system.
I know it sucks but if I was as worried as you about the noise and the power thing I would send it in. Also if for whatever reason you have to switch Wiis Nintendo will do a free transfer of memory like saved games, VC, Wiiware games etc. All you need to do is request it when you send your Wii in. My friend,s sister knocked his Wii down and it smashed upon hitting the floor he sent it in with a new Wii and had all of his stuff transfered.

Can u copy the save data to an SD card? Or is it not able to since it has online data?
I had a similar problem to this Peachy, and I feel so sorry for all your bad luck. My problem was it would make a loud buzzing noise whenever I put a disc in. I sent it to get reparied (not by Nintendo) and they told me with was a problem with the DVD drive.
@irken You can't copy data with online stuff onto a SD card.

@Aviator: The only problem I recall her having before she sent her Wii off to Nintendo was that it wouldn't play Metroid Prime Trilogy and now it returned with this new issue...

I just got mine back from a drive repair and it wouldn't read any discs; just made a sound like the read head was moving over and over and then I'd get an error code. They didn't touch anything else and it was a minor repair.
Sounds like they probably need to fix your drive again Peach, but I'd just raise the support call and see what they say. You could just carry on whilst your repair warranty is good and send it in when you're good and ready, but I'd be surprised if all remains well.
I found something strange on my wii earlier. There was a mystery chanel on it. I felt like trying out the internet chanel so I downloaded it, I went to the wii menu to start it up and noticed that instead of going to the next empty space it skipped one. Later I decided to delete the net chanel since it took up so much space and found a file with a question mark, there was no description just "???" What is it, and is it harmful? It blended perfectly on the menu and I had no idea it was there until then.
