There is a chance that Sony might release a beast of a console that would be sold at a loss alongside the PSVita, which could result in a major backfire and seriously damage Sony's ability to compete with the Big N. The next Xbox will probably be the biggest threat to the Wii U, seeing as Microsoft has a seemingly endlessly supply of cash.
Then again PC's might flatten all of them but that's unlikely.
I think Sony's learned their lesson this time around. They seem more concerned about the portable market, which is big in Japan right now. I think at this point they'll just wait until the tech is affordable, or at least so they won't be losing much.
All we can really count on from Microsoft is that the console will be rushed and break frequently, because Microsoft never learns their lesson.
As for PCs, unless the majority of PC games work on low spec PCs from now on, I highly doubt PC gaming will ever have much of an effect on the console market. Gaming PCs just cost way too much, and building your own PC requires you to be tech savy. Not to mention even good PCs don't last long enough. I have a 3 year old computer that was a Gaming computer when I bought it that could run Cryisis on the minimum specs. Now I can't even run some indie games, let alone full retail games, and those I can run chug at even the lowest settings. Most people just can't keep up with it.
Of course, I think the WiiU's competition for a long while will be the PS3 and Xbox 360. Both Parties have expressed great interest in keeping the lifespans of their consoles long, so I doubt we'll see successors to those console for another 2-4 years.

Considering the maturity (or lack of) of their top staff, Sony plans might still backfire if the Vita's games are anything like the PSP's (mostly crap with one or two AAA titles)and as for the PS3 well, it could sit be a problem, assuming that they manage to keep the console's online running AND people don't jump on the Wii U bandwagon and buy/ play superior games with better graphics (cause we all know what sony fans love, don't we).
If it's one thing microsoft's proven, it's that their not a hardware company (they can barely write software properly) the next Xbox is sure to breakdown one way or another.
3 years? Technology moves fast y'know, if your serious about PC gaming you will to learn to keep up; about your computer, ever thought about buying new components? They're not that hard to install, really!

Sony and microsoft will never be able to compete with nintendo as the wont get rights to a wii u rip off for a few years thats why it took so long for the PS Move.
The Wii U's competition is easy: XBox 360 and PS3. Whatever Microsoft and Sony have in store for their next consoles will be at least .5 generations ahead of the Wii U.
For me, The Wii U doesn't have competition because: A: Sony is a CHEAP company that will charge you an arm and a leg for something that dies only months later (I don't want to pay upwards of $400 for something just to wait for it to break) B: I no nothing of Microsoft..... but it does have Kinect right
But sadly I feel like the Wii U will become another Wii after the next Xbox and next Playstation come out...

I think you're confusing Sony for Microsoft. Sony's stuff doesn't break unless you're unlucky or you suck with technology. It's Microsoft's stuff that break so readily.

1) You give Sony too little credit. That is a mistake. 2) At least we agree on something 3) My point aboint PC gaming was that it is financially prohibitive, and that will always prevent it from dominating. I come from a middle class family, yet cannot afford to buy new PC components whenever I want. That money goes towards other things, including, but not limited to the games that I want to play. 4) What reason do they have to rush out a new console? Neither side even sees the WiiU as a threat. It'll be years before we see a new console revealed.

well then I must just be really unlucky (Technology and me are best friends)..... because I've had problems with Their Ps3 and Ps2 systems, they just don't hold a candle to Nintendo's quality made Systems. Not the greatest software, but greatly made nonetheless.
If this is true, best Nintendo can do is to become a software company working for the rest of the platforms and, eventually, designing weird and useless controls for them too: http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110704PD202.html

Do we really want another Sega incident?
I got a sexy deep v-neck and I'm not afraid to use it XD

1. I'm giving them very little credit because selling your products at a loss just to compete with your rivals is a sign that your getting desperate in my eyes. If the Vita fails to sell at the amount sony hopes, they will be will be left with debts that they will need to pay off by taking money from other areas and thousands of useless stock. 2. Well it's a start I suppose. 3. I'm not exactly rich either you know, the only reason I try to keep my computer relatively up-to-date is because: a. It helps with my work and b. it has games I want to play. It's not for everyone nor should it be. 4.Both company's will want to get their next consoles out before the Wii U's hold on next-gen's market becomes too strong, the 360 and PS3 can't last two generations, especially with both companies focus on raw power.
@Mickeymac Neither of the other of the Big 3 see Nintendo as a threat because they have seemingly infinite resources and wealth. Sony is basically the head of the entertainment industry and Microsoft is the head of the software industry. They can both afford so much loss that they can sell hardware at a loss. Microsoft like many other various hardware and appliance companies now build their products to break over time. @Nukerprime64 It's mostly not desparation, just a very unfair business strategy that can be used if you have a company with much more income; but that's life.
