Topic: Remove wrinkles from plastic cover of game case

Today I bought Mario & Sonic on 2014 Olympic Winter Games for Wii U in my local electronics store. When I brought it home and opened it, I noticed that almost all of plastic membrane that holds the paper cover was wrinkled, as it was near heater or something. I have a Wii game box from Super Mario Galaxy 2 which have the same problem, but I don't care about it, because it is a Wii game, so I can find a spare box by borrowing it from some waggle-dud game from a bargain bin. But this is a Wii U game, so I can't do that; besides, I do not want to lose Sochi 2014 label from the back.
So, my question is - is it possible to remove or at least minimize these wrinkles? I've heard something about using a hairdryer and a freezer, but I'm really not sure.

Perfect solution: buy digital.

Honestly, not really sure, I usually have pristine game cases, but I think if there are actual creases in the clear plastic, you're mostly SOL. You can try to GENTLY heat it with a hairdryer and press it flat while it's WARM, but honestly, I don't think you'll get very far, lol

you need to heat the plastic up again and flatten it back out again. To do this use a hairdryer and using the low heat option and aiming about 5 or 6 inches away point it at the wrinkles and slowly heat it up. Don't over heat otherwise it may melt the wrinkle and you'll end up with a hole. Put something hard and flat under the wrinkle and once its heated up enough use something also flat and place it on the outside of the wrinkle and while holding it there and with a bit of pressure, pull either the top or bottom of the plastic to flatten the wrinkle and hold it there while it cools down. It may take a few times to get the right process down but I have done this before and it works.

My copy of Super Scribblenauts has this problem but I don't really mind it because it's very mild so I've left it alone. The hairdryer trick seems logical seeing as plastic becomes nice and pliable when it's hot, as I'm sure everybody knows. The one thing I imagine you'll have to be very careful about though is that you don't stretch the plastic, oh and it's probably a good idea to take the cover out when you do it as well! If it doesn't work out, maybe the special sticker will come off neatly with the hairdryer and then you could stick it to a new box. Good luck!

My copy of Metroid Prime 3 has this issue as well. I'm just going to buy some $1 used game at EB Games and do a case swap, but as you said, this is a Wii U game and you can't do that (yet).

The hairdryer trick does work (I did it once with a gamecube box), just be cautious.

@Gamecubed: Did you order it from Nintendo stores for game cases? I sometime hate buying used or new games at EB Games since some of the cases are usually destroy for some reasons. I always ask for copy in seal if I HAVE to shop there unless it is used games.

On somewhat related notes, I got my dog bite mark on some of Sonic game cases. You can clearly see it being chew as well. Let's say my dog was in a puppy year teething when I leave my game cases on the table or floors. XD

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

I have a Steven Seagal bluray case that has the same problem. Major bummer!

I don't see how this could bother anyone.

I just tried the hairdryer method and couldn't get anything out of it. I will say though, that as you heat up the paper, it can get weaker and flattening or stretching out the wrinkles can cause a tear, so be careful
