Topic: Breath of the Wild 2 on the Wii U

I was super excited when I heard BotW 2 was coming out, and then super disappointed when I heard it was probably only for the Switch. Being someone with only a Wii U, I wish and hope that maybe Nintendo will consider making a supported version, and I wouldn't mind if it took a month longer. However, what do you think?

Since the BOTW engine was used to make a Switch & Wii U version of the game, it's plausible that they could do that again. Nintendo has also been vocal about shutting down previous generation consoles to streamline & focus on the Switch, which is reflected on retail store shelves these days. I could see it go either way. Although, without a release window, the BOTW sequel could be 1- 1.5+ years off(just a guess).

If it does come to the Wii U, I think it would release the same day as the Switch.

It really is wishful thinking to be honest. I can’t see them releasing a game on the Wii u in 2021+

@BotW2WiiU Breath of the Wild was the final Nintendo published Wii U Game, and unfortunately that door is now closed. I would imagine that while it will be built on the same engine, that engine will be updated/upgraded now it doesn't have to work with the Wii U's memory bottleneck.

I don't disagree that seeing more Wii U releases would have been nice, but the system has been discontinued. Much like the Virtual Boy, I figure it will be the system that Nintendo does its best to not acknowledge existed.

As much as I'd like the game to hit the Wii U, I don't see Nintendo bothering with the effort of releasing it on a console that's no longer in production and wasn't the most popular to begin with.
