Topic: Sonic Advance 2 - Sky Canyon

Banjo-

I love Sonic but this is the worst Sonic 2D game.

Anyway, I'm stuck on Sky Canyon with Sonic. He's supposed to go higher because I see an arrow made of rings but he always fell because the speed momentum is not enough to go higher. What am I missing? Any help regarding air controls is appreciated.
