Well looks like another studio is gone this time Bioware. Granted they are a shell of there formal self but its always sad to see such a great studio close. Some of my favorite games including Jade Empire and KotOR I still replay from time to time.

I hope everyone effected by this finds a job soon.

Ah thats a shame. I just started a new playthrough of mass effect recently. Its prolly better that its just left as is anyway.

I find the usual responses to Bioware lately to be eye rolling:
-they were Bioware in name only for the last [number] years.
-they made Veilguard so its not surprising.

To which i would reply:
-video game development involves the work of so many people. Its not always the same people making the same games every new release. And even if it is different people, it doesnt mean the new people have no talent or ambition.
-Veilguard isn't that bad. Its probably the best playing dragon age game. Writing? Not so much but nowhere near the level of criticism i've seen this game get.

I would say that their closure isn't surprising because it's EA. I've been watching Majuular's Ultima Retrospective and I have the impression that Bioware was [mis]handled in a similar way.

I'm not shocked but I am very sad by this. The Mass Effect trilogy is one of my favorites stories in gaming, bar none, and Mass Effect 2 is a top 5, maybe top 3 Xbox 360 game. It made me love a game whose primary gameplay was cover shooter, impossibly high praise from me. And while I didn't play any of their other games outside of failing to get into KOTOR once, they were like a go to example of the western RPG.

Unfortunately, they both are a company owned by EA and also had been in decline for a long while with some of their best talent having left. So unfortunately I'm kinda numb to this news, but it still sucks.
