Just wondering what people thought of these. I can't do a link or anything like that as last time I linked to a aliexpress product the thread was removed but just wondered on people's thoughts on these. I've just purchased one and it should turn up in about a week. The grand sum of 12.43 delivered but topcashback has tracked at just under 50p so should be less than 12 pounds in the end. A very cheap product considering all it does. A risk? Should I have chosen a different model at Aliexpress?
Reviews seem good and the spec sounds good too but its such a low price you think what has been compromised, they claim mechanical switches, RGB lighting, hall effect joysticks, multi-power vibration feedback plus other stuff. Compatible with both original Switch and OLED Switch, in fact you can see 2 switches on it that switches between LCD and OLED one per side. I'm not sure it is going to fit my existing Switch soft case, there is slack in that case but not sure enough. So a new soft case might be required too. It looks more ergonomic for my larger hands compared to the normal Switch with joycons but we shall see.
I realise not much interest in these but very impressed with the item. It makes my Switch OLED much more comfortable in the hand I love the high quality switches and RGB lighting and makes games feel better. The vibration feedback is disappointing to be honest but not a deal breaker. My other Switch is a Switch Lite anyway. Overall 9/10 and would have been 10/10 with decent vibration feedback. The other issue is now my Switch is larger and more Steamdeck size so I need a new case to carry it about.
For the price, it’s honestly hard to go too wrong — especially under £12. If the reviews are decent and it really has hall effect sticks, mechanical buttons, and RGB, then it sounds like great value. The main risks with cheap AliExpress controllers are build quality, long-term durability, and possible firmware quirks. Worst case, it’s a backup or travel controller. Best case, it surprises you and feels way more premium than the cost.

I must admit I much prefer gaming on it than the original joycons. It just seems much better to me, more responsive and accurate. I also like that fact it makes the Switch more comfortable in the hand. However I've had to buy a case from aliexpress for a steamdeck to use with it because it makes the Switch much bigger. I guess the other minor negative issue is it has no battery capacity of its own so unlike the joycons with their own batteries this relies on power purely from the Switch tablet itself. However with that said I've not noticed any real difference in battery runtime maybe because the vibration feedback is so weak in it. I actually plan to sell on my joycons now as I never use them. It's just single player experiences and docked for me.
