Topic: Paladins

Lo and behold, Paladins has finally been confirmed for Switch. Releasing June 12 in Europe, probably US about the same time. Maybe the closest thing we'll ever get to Overwatch on Switch, so I'll give it a shot some time.

@OorWullie That's right. But it seems that it's only early access right now, which means you'll have to pay to play. Later on in the year it'll be free.

Eh, not really into multiplayer FPS games. I'm glad it's a thing for those who enjoy it, though.

Yeah, looks like it could be a lot of fun! ..if they can get it running well on the Switch, I'd definitely be hugely interested in picking it up

I have played it on PS4 and it was quite good, but I had to delete it because o problems with the PS4 memory. I think it will stay free to play, and from what I've seen it's on of those games that uses the system correctly.

I had no idea there was a third person option! I'm actually excited to try it now. Also that turtle character looks cool.

Honestly the 60 fps is swaying me more than it probably should, lol. It's just exciting to have this kind of game on the Switch without needing to compromise the framerate. I'm sure the graphics won't be noticeably inferior when I'm playing, anyway. Can't wait to try it out

So, is there an option to outright purchase all of the premium content? And most importantly... will there be motion controls?

First game like this to utilize motion wins 2018.

@JaxonH I know that $30 gets you a "Founder's Pack" with a lot of premium content with some exclusives, I just don't know if it provides all the available content.

And as for motion controls, we'll see in five days If they're not there at launch then they could still be patched in later like DOOM, so there's always hope. Gyro/motion in a game like this is always awesome.

The crossplay is with Xbox by the way.

@JaxonH They say the Founders Pack includes everything that's out now and everything that will be added. There might be some fine print involved, but it sounds pretty straightforward - buy the FP, get everything.

@JasmineDragon wait, later additions and expansions might still cost some money, while the pack includes them all-in? I'm going to research that one, because it might just make me buy this instead of wait it out

@erv Actually, now that I'm taking another look, it only says all Champions, not everything.

"Paladins will be available as a free-to-play game later this year. Founders get early access, immediately unlock all Champions and their voice packs now and forever, and receive exclusive cosmetics."

So there may still be a lot of power-up stuff that isn't included in what you get with the Founders Pack. They do say that everything that affects gameplay can be unlocked "simply by playing", though that may not include future expansions.

I'm still leaning towards buying the Founders Pack. $30 is affordable, and overall I'm hearing nothing but good things about this game, except for the odd post on Overwatch forums that says it's an inferior me-too. Worth noting, though, that there is always someone there who says it's actually a pretty good game and the card system adds a lot of variety to the roles you can play. I like the sound of that.

Me too. Variety, cross platform play... I'm mentally selling this to myself already.

I'll have to check out the videos. I'm a sucker for online fun. And it seems to balance the gameplay out quite nicely.
