Topic: Future of Xenoblade X

For all we know they could already be 75% done with X-2 having not said anything about it.
That said I'm not holding my breath, Nintendo works best when we're surprised.

@jedgamesguy I hope not. I personally really do not like X, and rather Monolith make something new or make a mainline Xenoblade. Genuinely dislike the focus on sidequests and sidelined main story of X, along with its music being nothing like the other Xenoblade titles.

It was an old article saying, “Monolith Soft is making Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Xenoblade Chronicles X2.” I’m not sure where to find it.

Yeah, but Spoiler Alert. How can there be a XCX2 if the human race was brought to extinction?

@LinkxPeach That article wasn't factual. It was just a ton of baseless speculation.

I really enjoyed XCX, but it's clearly a game that was scoped back from something far more ambitious, and with good reason. There's no way they would consider remaking it as originally envisioned; it'd be way too expensive and and too much of a risk.

If it ever gets ported to Switch (or more likely its successor now) it'd be the game as it was, with some minor enhancements, like the ones they made to XC:DE. So, improved textures, character models, and QoL features, and so on. Hopefully, there'd be some post-game story missions to make more sense of the ending too.

Similarly, if XCX2 ever happens, I'd think that they'd make something that plays more like XC2 and 3, with gated progression between areas, because that's just worked out better for them and is more conducive to telling a story.

I'm not overly optimistic about either of those things happening, but they're almost certainly going to be working on something for the launch year of Switch 2.

@Matt_Barber Ehh I doubt monolith will have something for launch of Switch 2. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed just came out- so it's waaay too early for a Xenoblade 4. Maybe in the second or third year of the switch 2.

@Matt_Barber @VoidofLight That's where a XCX remaster may come in, they released XCDE in between XC2 and XC3 (2025 would be a similar timing in between new games). Also it could work as a showpiece for the new hardware.

@VoidofLight Why not? They've had a tempo of roughly 2-3 years between major releases going back a decade, and it'll be roughly two years and a half since Future Redeemed was released by the end of 2025.

That's not to say that it'll be XC4. It might be a re-master of an older game, or some other project that's been developed in parallel with Xenoblade.

If nothing else, they'll certainly be doing development support for some other Nintendo games.

@Matt_Barber Ahh. Xenoblade 3 has been out for nearly three years already. Jesus.

I could see them probably working with Bandai to release a Xenosaga remake with all three parts under one unified art style. Especially if Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed is hinting at what people are speculating it's hinting at. They're also for sure working on other Nintendo games as well, but Monolith restructured to be able to work on multiple large projects at once.

@Grumblevolcano While a remaster of X could be a good way to showcase new hardware, I just feel like X is something they've probably abandoned. Lots of ideas from X got repurposed into 3's narrative, and X itself came out in a time where the devs didn't actually know what direction they wanted to take the series from what it seems like. Especially given it was meant to be a MMO on Wii U before scaling it back a bit to a normal singleplayer game with multiplayer content.

Apparently, he mentioned in the Xenoblade 2 music artbook: a 'sequel' to Xenoblade 2, a sequel to Xenoblade X and a new original project.

As for Xenoblade X sequel I feel this is for switch 2.
'New project', is probably a new IP from Monolith Soft.

I’m all for a X sequel myself, I found the gameplay to be among
Monolith’s best, especially in illustrating the scale of the world through the combat. Small enemies can be killed quick but large enemies can take ages by comparison. That made the world believable, and getting a Skell was one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever experienced in a video game

@jedgamesguy; Agreed, I have searched and played countless amounts of video games but Xenoblade X is the most unique.

Whether Kunihiko Tanaka returns for art lead, is a big question through.

@Ulysses: I really want a Xenogears reboot, that game has a amazing story and superb ost.
Xenoblade X almost feels like a sequel to the other Xeno games and the original logo, is a red X same as Xenogears logo.

Mr Tanaka is the lead artist for all Xeno games apart from the Klaus saga.

It's weird because I actually find Gears and Saga interesting. X though? No. No I don't find it interesting. That game is unfun and pretty awful in every way.
