Topic: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

@ShieldHero All right gotcha. I've been coming back to the game lately, one reason why was that I wanted to complete my museum. And I did just that this year! Some of the bugs and fish were pretty hard to get, and they were gonna be unavailable the longer I wait, but I got them all and they're all donated. I got all the sea creatures and art pieces long ago. (My other friends helped with the latter, too!) Another reason is that as I mentioned before, I really want the other colors of the conductor hat... but they're not showing up in my Able Sisters shop at all. I do want to wrap up the DLC at some point, too.

But yeah, New Horizons is still keeping me busy for the time being. No pressure on coming back. That's cool you made a ton of lore for your island, been changing mine a bit as well. I made a fun little amusement park a while back when that big update came out some years ago.

@D-Star92 what time zone are you in I am UK which is BST at the moment ( UST+1)

Fairly new, looking to gain online friends to visit different islands and collect different fruits and hard to get recipes, flooring, etc... Just started playing.

Free update V 3.0 and a Switch 2 Edition for this game are coming out on January 15, 2026.

After paying off the bells for the rest of the co-ops at Harv's Island, I was going to put this game on hiatus again for who knows how long. Now I'm gonna keep playing for sure. 🤣 Maybe also buy purchase Happy Home Paradise too?

I have bought Happy Home Paradise DLC since 4 years ago and it was really worthy to get another new villagers option, more new furnitures and ability to makeover your island villager house.

Wow, I didn't expect I will get surprise from ACNH Switch 2 version and the new update version 3.0.0. on my birthday today. 😊
I was cranky with Switch 2 situation from game key card situation but this ACNH new update at least calmed me quite a lot.
But I still don't like with game key card practice by lazy 3rd party games companies.

Looks like the new update and Switch 2 edition will be coming out the same month as my birthday! Definitely excited for them, and the upgrade pack is just $5 too.

Can't wait for everyone in my house to hear me shout "Nibbles??" "NIBBLES?!!" into my Switch 2

Frame rate still capped at 30 on Switch 2…

Nintendo can’t even make Animal Crossing run at 60. At least GameFreak can get Pokémon up there.

I’m not paying for a 4K upgrade I can’t even see because I play handheld.

@OmnitronVariant at least the handheld resolution will get bumped up to 1080p, the current scaling on the switch 2 screen looks pretty bad

@SplatRay001 Yeah but 30 fps looks more jarring the larger the display is as well. I’m not going to bother and just play on my OLED.

@OmnitronVariant that’s understandable but considering how laggy my switch 1 island was with all my items, I’ll definitely be sticking with the switch 2 (also I never owned an oled lol)

This update further cements that this series is no longer for the older fans I guess. It's pretty much just tripling down on the customization aspect that this game offers- without offering any meaningful content outside of that. It feels disappointing to see what's effectively just a downscaled version of the DLC being added to the game, and to see an island that gives you full god-like powers to do whatever you want with. I just want more features that actually offers things to do for people who dislike decorating- just like how past games used to do.

I'm also miffed that they locked the Zelda items behind Amiibo. Now you have to buy the Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo if you want the furniture- and the Amiibo in said set are around 25-30 USD each. I get the villagers being locked behind it, but the furniture really shouldn't be amiibo only. They didn't do that with New Leaf's Nintendo items, so it feels like a disgrace that they're doing it here.

The 12 player multiplayer is also extremely pointless. There's nothing to do in this game with eight people, let alone 12.
