Celebrating Nintendo Switch 2’s arrival very soon, it’s the Game File Size topic. Since the original Nintendo Switch game file size forum topic was one of the most popular topics, thanks to @SKTTR for all the contributions, and for keeping the spirit up till the very end. Let’s hope we can continue this fun activity going for the next decade. It will be really helpful, informative and interesting with the compressions with games and choices the developers make with each game. Let's have a look at how the file sizes for each game:

The file sizes listed above are only for the upgrade packs, not the whole games. In total, Mario Party would be 13 GBs, while Kirby would be 11.4 GBs.
In addition, Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on a 64 GBs cart, but we have no idea yet how much of it will be used by the game.

Finally, the game-key card of Street Fighter VI mentions a 50 GBs download, while the game-key card of Bravely Default Remastered mentions an 11 GBs download.

As a physical collector, it's difficult to look at file sizes and not be a little vexed.

I assume game-key card releases will outpace actual physical releases.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)

@Magician Game-key card is a much better option to just game keys but physical is king 🔥

@Kuhang you still have to download the game so you will still have to manage your storage space. I'm not sure game-key card releases are the way to go. Digital games tend to have discounts more quickly. As long as we have to pay full price for empty gkc-cartridges, then i think digital purchases are a better option. I'm a firm believer that physical games are better but not in this case. Maybe that will change as third parties reevaluate their options.
