In absence of a real article I must take it upon myself to inform the public that the Switch's greatest RPG, Blue Reflection: Second Light, is receiving an enhanced rerelease on Switch and Switch 2. along with some other stuff I guess

https://blue-reflection.com/quartet/uk/

Blue Reflection: Quartet includes:

BLUE REFLECTION: The original game, remastered from it PS4/Vita origin with higher-resolution textures and new QoL features. Possibly there is more to this rerelease than that but that's all the website says so far

BLUE REFLECTION RAY: An interactive retelling of the story of the 2021 anime, set between the events of the first and second core series games, along with new prologue and epilogue chapters to tie it into the wider series. Bizarrely, a number of major characters are entirely absent from the website, which makes me think it'll be a pretty abridged retelling, but who knows.

BLUE REFLECTION SUN: The now-defunct gacha game, resurrected in an offline, microtransaction free (I should hope) form with major battles remade in the combat system from Second Light. Yay preservation?

BLUE REFLECTION: SECOND LIGHT: The console sequel, now with extra QoL features, plus Ruka from Ray and the seven additional characters from Sun now available as playable party members. Screenshots also indicate the existence of a new battle mechanic called "Counter", but the text doesn't elaborate so who knows what that's about.

There's also a reference database, including a timeline, character profiles, relationship charts, and an artwork gallery from series illustrator Kishida Mel, who you may remember from the time he drew a horse so good they had to crop it out of the boxart for its game because it was too distracting. No mention is made of any DLC from either of the core games being included, but given the general comprehensiveness on show here I have to assume it'll be there. Hopefully.

After how hard Ray and especially Sun flopped, I kind of assumed the franchise was dead and Gust would just retreat into the financially secure Atelier production line forever. I have to assume the purpose of this collection is to test the waters and see if a third real game is viable, which does make me question the wisdom of including a pair of notorious bombs, but I guess that's why I'm not a Koei Tecmo executive. The collection launches worldwide on the 30th of July, with the English edition being digital only and preorders only available for the Japanese physical editions.

@YaGirlSkyByte Thanks for telling us, wanted to give this series a try at some point so I'm definitely going for this compilation (will check out which are the differences between the Switch 1 and 2 versions, if they aren't particularly significant I'll go for the former physically otherwise digitally) - fingers crossed there will be a sequel, even better if as soon as next year!

Hopefully none of it is censored compared to the original releases. If it isn't, I am interested in trying it out sometime.
