Hello there,
I've seen and search some info but, weirdly enough, none seem to talk about this situation and I don't understand how it works.

So, I have some bluetooth speakers that I use in Switch handheld mode and I would love to keep using them while docked to a monitor without speakers, but how does that work? It says that the speakers are still connected but no sound come out and messing with the settings I found nothing useful.

I refuse to believe that it's not supported, for a console made exactly to effortlessly switch between portable and stationary. That would be a major gaffe to be honest...

If anyone has this knowledge, I appreciate the time and the help. Thank you very much!

@ArcticBora Well, the dock.is designed to pass sound through the HDMI cable to the device its hooked into i.e. TV, monitor. Since your monitor had no speakers they sound cant be heard. And HDMi will override the Bluetooth connection when it's docked.

They only thing I can think of is see if you can contected the monitor itself to the Bluetooth speaker not the Switch.

You can get the speakers to work when docked though? Just not when placing it back in its dock from playing portable?
You would've thought that would work. I've used the same pair of headphones portable and docked and they work fine, but haven't switched between the modes on the fly with them connected.

I totally understand your confusion. It does seem a bit odd, right?

Here's the simple explanation: When your Switch is docked, it normally sends sound through the HDMI cable to your monitor or TV. That's why your Bluetooth speakers don't play any sound.

Unfortunately, the Switch doesn't naturally support sending sound to Bluetooth speakers when it's docked. It's kind of a letdown, especially for a console designed to switch between portable and stationary modes.

But, don't lose hope! You can use a Bluetooth transmitter connected to your Switch's headphone jack to send audio to your speakers, even when it's docked. It's a workaround, but it works.
