Hiya everyone, i'm new here, for the reason that I could really do with some help regarding my situation.
i'll try to make this as simple as possible!
my son has a 2ds xl, his own nnid, I have a 2ds and my own nnid.
my son has broken his new 2ds xl, much to my horror, my own is still going strong.
he can no longer access his games, his top screen is a write off right now, i'm not really in a postion as of yet to replace or fix this just now.
I was maybe naively wondering is there a way I can access his games on my nnid?
we're new to Nintendo btw, we're more screwed on with xbox or playstation
I've scoured the internet, I've looked on Nintendo website, i'm feeling clueless and so sad.
I've seen about deleting his nnid, the chance I could redownload the digital purchases made. but I've not read that I can redownload via my nnid.
do I have to make a completely new nnid? would I lose my nnid then though?
i'm so confused, I have emailed Nintendo for support but am doubting a quick reply.
i'm currently out of hours for phone support too.
he has minecraft that was preinstalled, and a pokemon ultra son digital purchase.
they are both games I like myself, I thought we could have them on my 2ds and both still enjoy using the games
I do apologise if I have rambled on, or if it doesn't make sense or if I seem foolish for wondering my ponderings.
any help at all would be grrrreatly appreciated!

Is the broken 2ds still in warranty? You might be out of luck if it isn’t.

I’m pretty sure that you cannot download games from another nnid, so fixing/asking for a transfer would be the best way to go.

Sorry for the bad luck!
So the bad news is that you cannot transfer a NNID from a 2DSXL to a 2DS, assuming you’ve got the flat tablet-like 2DS (I tried, it’s considered backward and not supported).
Even Nintendo support can’t.
Any purchases made with one NNID can’t be transferred to another NNID, either.

@GyroZeppeli
thankyou for the reply!
the 2DS xl has been dropped and so won't be covered by the warranty but I will be buying a screen and get it repaired some day, I just thought in the meantime, there'd be some way around the inaccessible games.
wish i'd of done some more research now, pokemon turned out not to be his cup of tea, more so mine, thought I could still get some use out of it until a repair, and he could still use the minecraft on my ds.
sorry for my little knowledge but so grateful for your reply!

@JackEatsSparrows
aw thankyou!
I do have the flat, tablet style, he wanting a ds, try out a new system, the games inspired him, once all bought, we ended up using each other's handheld at times!
the times he had his own ds, there's been a tumble
hence why I was hoping we could still access the games via my own.
so am I best off leaving the nnid alone, until the repair to access the games again?
not delete it or attempt any silly moves in transferring?
thanks so much for your reply!

Minecraft in particular can't be played at all in a regular 2DS, since it requires the extra power the XL has.

If the only problem is the top screen, then you should be fine with a replacement screen. You could also look around for a cheap used New Nintendo 3DS XL, or a New Nintendo 2DS XL (the model is not important as long as it has "New" in the name) and do a system transfer.

You don't need to use the top screen to perform a transfer.

And yes please don't delete or reset the system, you may end up losing the games forever if you mess with the wrong options.
