I truly have no concept of what gaming will be like that far into the future. I imagine it'll be holograms or truly realistic virtual reality by then. That's going by the rapid rate of technological advances we're seeing in present day. I doubt video game systems will be anything like they are today. Physical media will be gone, I imagine. I think it's guaranteed gaming will be vastly different, because let's face it: There's not a lot more that can be done with console systems. How much more can you improve graphics? At a certain point, there's no place else to take things, and you have to come up with something new, like holograms, etc. Hell, I've read articles about the possibility of our consciousnesses being attached to computers by then.
25 years from now would be 2036. Nintendo pretty much releases their systems every five years. Going by that schedule, the Nintendo game systems 5 generations AFTER the Wii U, or their 11th generation console (if consoles still exist then), would be due for release soon. And the Zelda series would celebrate it's 50th anniversary! Like the great franchises in the world, Mario & Zelda will still be around.
And I look forward to Final Fantasy XXX (not for nekkid Lightning, though I wouldn't object ). And the latest remake of Final Fantasy IV for me to add to my collection. Hopefully V & VI will have a few remakes by then...
I hope lightsabers exist by then, or some point in my lifetime. Guns are so uncivilized! Hmmm, Star Wars: Episode VII, VIII & IX?
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
This will be perfected as the new standard for controllers. Gone are the days of old chunky physical controllers with those dreaded buttons, we are the controller... even the eyetoy and kinnect are no match. Oh, and there is no more Television screens, all our viewing pleasure comes from a transmission signal that goes into our standard personal Head Piece device and into our own brains.
As for the games, well there aren't any, it was just a fad. Now we only use the controller as a means of stimulating our minds through the different strokes of the arms as means of entertainment. All Game companies have been forced to bankruptcy and are now devoted into selling card games.
In 25 years Mario will become an FPS. Final Fantasy will become an FPS. Zelda will become an FPS. Pac-Man will become an FPS. Gaming will become an FPS.
Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?
