I had a dreamcast in my room collecting dust, and I would also like to enjoy the Dreamcast a lot, because I only had 1 game for it. I was planning to get more for the future at the local Retro store, the issues I'm having with the dreamcast is the laser. I used to have about 2 or 3 games, but then I lost 2 of those games. One of those 2 are Sega Smash Pack Vol. 1, I enjoyed playing 6 genesis games inside of the Disc (although there actually 12 classic games in the Disc). That's also the first time I played Sonic 1. I don't remember the other game I lost (I think it's Sonic Adventure 2, but I don't remember exactly,) but the only game I had for the dreamcast is Namco Museum. What's your favorite Dreamcast game that you can recommend?
Shenmue
Shenmue 2
Crazy Taxi (Best with the Rally Wheel).
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Skies of Arcadia
Wacky Races (Brilliant Kart Racer).
Jedi Power Battles.
Rez
Super Monkey Ball
Samba de Amigo
Under Defeat (Dreamcast game but it is not worth getting it for it because it is so rare and it is dirt cheap on PS3/360).
Sonic Adventure (If you want 2 get the GC version).
Soul Calibur
Virtua Tennis (The Dreamcast ones are just much more fun).
Virtua Fighter 3TB
Gigawing / Gigawing 2
Bangai O
Twinkle Star Sprites
Zero Gunner 2
House of the Dead 2 (Better with a proper lightgun than using the Wii).
Gauntlet Legends (I think it is better than the N64 version).
The American Football and Ice Hockey games on it are pretty good as well. (Fun to play at least but not really designed to be a simulation).
Gunlord (Pretty recent indie game ported from the Neo Geo to the Dreamcast)
I agree with this. Grandia is a now-dead series with probably the best battle system of any turn-based RPG. Grandia II in particular is probably the best in the series too. And sure, the game has been ported to PS2 and PC, but the ports aren't as good as the original in this case. Hand-drawn spells, amazing battle system, amazing music, decent story, and one of the characters is voiced by the woman who did Ariel from Little Mermaid! LOL, she does a good job too.
Another amazing one on Dreamcast would be Skies of Arcadia. One of my personal favorite JRPGs of all time and once again it's much better on Dreamcast than the ported Gamecube version. Sure, the Gamecube version had more quests...but it's not worth the sacrifice in presentation. Seriously, if you're a fan of JRPGs at all you owe it to yourself to play this game.
I would say Sonic Adventure, but it's hard for me to recommend because the Sonic levels are great, but the other characters...not so much...
Evolution: World of Scared Device was also pretty fun if you like rogue-likes. Another hard one to recommend though because it's definitely not for everyone.
Lets see I only have two (Virtua Tennis 1 and Sonic Adventure 1) sooooooooooooooo...Sonic Adventure! Need to get more games soon, next one will be either Space Channel 5, Crazy Taxi, one of the SNK fighters, one of the Capcom fighters, Soul Calibur, Chu Chu Rocket...yeah I need to get to work (it doesn't help that there are no retro game stores that carry good Dreamcast games...only the sports titles)
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...

How very descriptive. Thank you for that insight. I learned so much.
Compared to the Dreamcast original, the PS2 port occasionally has noticeable dips in framerate, there a few minor graphical glitches here and there (I only ran into a couple when I played through the PS2 version, though I've seen others claim that they ran into them more frequently), and the visuals took an overall hit during what I understand was a fairly rushed conversion, with more aliasing, more interlace flicker and muddier textures. I do feel like the inferiority of the port is a bit overstated, though, since it's still the same fun game and I never ran into anything game-breaking, but the blemishes are definitely there.
While the Dreamcast version is the superior of the two, I wouldn't say that it's so much better that you should go out of your way to play it over the PS2 version if the latter is more readily available to you. Really, crappy textures probably don't matter so much when we're talking about two versions of a nearly 15 year old Dreamcast game.
