I feel like a lot of you have short memories. He's talking about in your whole life, you know?
That's a tough one. I'll list 4 games I can recall being extra excited for, but I'm not sure which one I was more excited for:
Pokemon Gold - I think I nearly wet myself when I saw it announced after a Pokemon anime episode. I'm pretty sure I even got a Learning Japanese Book just to translate a Japanese Pokemon card I found (somehow...) of Totodile before the official name was released, and gave my Totodile the Japanese name when I finally got to play the game. Metroid Prime 3 - It was announced soon after I started really getting into the first two games, and It was the first game I really followed (as best as I could without the internet). I was so excited, after my mom bought it as a christmas present, I tricked her into letting me rent it so I could play it early! I got 1/3 of the way through the game in one weekend before I "officially" got to play it! Solatorobo: The Red Hunter - I followed this game from Japanese announcement to the European localization announcement, all the way to the final American release, talked up a storm with someone equally as enthusiastic about the game, if not moreso, on these very forums about it...even watching a trailer that spoiled half the game for me...T_T Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - I've been super-hyped for this game since it's first announcement back in 2010, when it was just an AR demo (which curiously doesn't seem to have made it into the final game...). I still haven't played it yet of course, but I'm still so hyped that I can't even bear to look at a thumbnail of it on a news story around here without squealing! And everything I've seen has me convinced it's gonna be great!
Kingdom Hearts II - Getting online to look up game news is actually a pretty new habit of mine, so when I first saw the commercial for this, I was beside myself.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I had never played a Zelda since ALttP, and was never particularly attracted to the series, until it's original E3 reveal. I knew right then & there I had to have it.
The Wii in general - I had to be a part of the motion revolution, and all the news about it selling out made me nervous, and I got even more hyped when I played SMG at a Wal-Mart.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl - I've been a long time fan of Smash, and all the new info was tantalizing, but they kept pushing it back.
the 3DS in general - Playing games with glasses free 3D seemed like some sort of magical wizardry, and it's something you just can't imagine until you actually see it. It worked wonderfully, but it took awhile to get games...
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Only two games I can remember being super excited for: Super Smash Bros. Brawl - I loved Melee, so I got super excited (and wasn't let down). Pikmin 3 - Most excited at E3 2012. Also, the reason I joined NL. I loved Pikmin 2 (and later Pikmin), so I knew I would love this. The hype died down a lot since it took so long, sadly. I was still super excited though. (once again, not let down).
Also, the Smash Bros U trailer got me so hyped up while I was watching it. After I got over that it was Retro's new game, the same goes for DKC: Tropical Freeze.

The first game I obsessively hyped over was Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was ah, like 13 years old, and Smash Bros. was likely my favourite series ever. Virtually every day at school that year I talked about it with my friends, until it finally came out. I only got to play for an hour that first day, but man, was I ever happy to finally play it.
The 3DS in general had me extremely hyped. I had dreams about it during the week of its release. I was giddy. I like consoles a lot, but handhelds remain my favourite way to experience games (you can go anywhere with them, for example, you can lie in bed while playing, play in the car, et cetera, which is a major selling point for me). I got my 3DS with Pilotwings Resort which was pretty great, but I was way more excited about the hardware than the software.
Also, a big one for me was Pokemon: Heart Gold. My brother wanted Soul Silver but I always like Gold better for some reason so I opted for Heart Gold. I was extremely excited for it, because Johto was by far my favourite region and Gen 2 my favourite generation. I played some Silver beforehand because I could NOT wait until it was released. When it was, I was a very happy camper.
Right now though, I am incredibly hyped for Pokemon X, to a lesser extent Batman Arkham Origins, and especially the new Super Smash Bros!
Metroid Prime Hunters - I remember re-reading Nintendo Power articles on this game for months before it finally came out. Additionally, I was an original DS owner, so I also had First Hunt to keep me looking forward to the final product. Metroid Prime 3 - Becoming my favorite game of all time, Hunters got me into Metroid, and I just couldn't wait for the next new entry. Metroid Prime Trilogy - I love the controls of Metroid Prime 3, and the idea of having those controls in the first and second Prime sounded really good to me considering I disliked the Gamecube controls. The collector's tin casing just made the release even more exciting. First release I preordered. Metroid Other M - A new Metroid that's different really caught my eye. As soon as that Past is Prologue TV spot hit, I found myself watching that again and again. Second release I preordered. Mario & Luigi Partners In Time - Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga blew me away, and I had a feeling it was a one-off title...but then I heard that Superstar Saga was getting a sequel while at a resort. My mom had the E3 2005 issue of Nintendo Power with the news, and I wanted to read about and see that game so bad. This game is probably the most excited I've been for a release, and got me into Nintendo Power and gaming media in general.
