that Brazil game was so boring, i liked the changes in the team, Cunha was great, and Vini as always being the protagonist, but after the third goal nothing else happened.
Qualify doesn't seem to be a problem anymore, just a game against Scotland, we should finish first on the group, its the knockout round that worries me
... Is there honestly a true Group of death this round?
With 8 out of 12 third-place teams also advancing...there's not supposed to be. But Turkey just found out what can happen if you manage to lose against the supposed biggest underdog in your group.
They've really messed it up changing the deciding factor to head to head rather than goals scored;
now with more games than ever, so many of them are going to be pointless.
@Tasuki I can't think of any time where a team won their first game 5v1, then lost their next one 1v5. It might be difficult for them to qualify even in third now, as I imagine Japan will be going for a big win to try and win the group on goal difference. Although with Netherlands playing Tunisia, that will be unlikely.
1st and 2nd from this group plays 2nd and first from the Brazil group. From Netherlands and Japans perspective, they've got a difficult last 32 tie either way. Unless Scotland somehow finishes 2nd.
Disappointing showing by Belgium this tournament. I thought they would be amoung the top in their group now it looks like they might not even make it to the next round.

Help me with this... Head to head? Are they not doing goals scored already? (then head to head perhaps?) That is why the Dutch are ahead of Japan.. Same Points...same goal difference, but The dutch have scored 7 goals to Japans 6 after two games. And they have played each other. I predicted those two would advance - hopefully that's still true but anything can still happen.
So in previous tournaments,
if two teams were on equal points at the end of the group stage, the one with the better goal difference would finish above the other.
In this tournament the first determiner is head to head, so if country A and country B finish on the same amount of points, if country A had beaten country B, country A would finish above country B.
In the case of Japan and Netherlands,
they drew with each other, so head to head won't come into if they finish on equal points.
It would go to the next criteria, which I believe is goal difference.
Where goal difference will really be decisive is in the match between the 8 best third-placed teams. It’s going to be crazy.
I'm starting to believe that some teams with 3 points and a negative goal difference might even qualify.
ah...so my confusion lies within the order that they determine who finishes ahead of one another. I knew head to head was involved, just didn't know it was the first thing they look at. I thought Goal Difference was 1st (after points)...then they move down the list etc.. Thanks.
Which actually makes less sense than group positions being decided by goal difference,
because in the groups everyone plays each other, if there is any easy team, the other teams all have a chance to rack up the goals against them.
Whereas for the best 3rd place finishers going up against each other, they've obviously all played different sides.
@Tasuki That happened several times during last year's Club World Cup.
It looks like I won't be watching the second half, since I want to watch Norway at 9 PM.
a good game for Brazil! Vini is gonna be one of the best in whole tournament, in lesser news, neymar played after years, nothing to say about that. Now that we have a attack that works, we can go with a little more confidence, next opponent: Japan or Netherlands... this is gonna be tough
