Honestly, I've been expecting this to happen for several days now. I've been following the news, and the number of infected has been going up by 4-5 thousand every day. While the media makes it sound like the end of times - we should be careful regardless. It's not the end of times, but the virus is still dangerous and highly contagious.

@Heavyarms55 Yeah, I'm expecting it to be canceled. It'll be great if things are good enough to hold it, but I've definitely tempered expections. My brother text me today; He came home sick from work in the DC area, feeling like garbage, fever 99F. Maybe it's just a regular sick. We'll see.

@thanosrexxx Maybe everyone will just make directs. They still have to advertise their upcoming games.

@Woomy_NNYes Oh, probably, yeah. And other gaming news will still be delivered as well, since most companies will have trailers and gameplay segments made ready beforehand, but it's still quite a let down, because nothing compares to the buzz of such an event, that's live, and that combines all these parts into one, big hype fest.

Honestly I've been kind of expecting E3 to transition into a mostly digital event eventually anyway. This is earlier than I expected but hey, we could see it as a test run.

Nothing stopping companies from still having Direct style streams and presentations. In fact, doing just that could generate good press, if the advertise it as another way to stay home and stay safe until this disease finally blows over. Which it will. Eventually.

Microsoft's response to GDC being cancelled was Game Stack Live being next week instead featuring all the GDC content planned so I'd imagine Microsoft's press conference will still happen in some form on the Sunday before E3 was meant to be like usual.

Sony cancelled even before coronavirus was a thing so their plans are probably unchanged for around then.

With Nintendo, I think the next general Direct will act as both the early year Direct and the E3 Direct with us having another 6+ month general Direct drought afterwards.

For the others, I'd guess announcements just being revealed via social media and Youtube.
