I finished Doom 2016 on Hurt Me Plenty a couple of days ago. I'll probably play it again on higher difficulties and try to find more collectables. I actually started playing on Ultra Violence, but I lowered the difficulty when I got to the fourth level as the third took me many tries.

I finished ''Super Mario 3D Land'' in 7 hours 29 minutes. Ofcourse, it would have taken alot more time to finish or i would probably not be able finish the game, if i didn't use the White Racoon Costume in some levels, especially in some boss levels. lol

I remember watching a youtube video of a little Turkish girl playing Mario back in the day. She was so upset, screaming and crying because she wasn't able to jump over an obstacle no matter how many times she tried... I believe Nintendo saw that video. lol So we have the White Racoon Costume Block, if we die 5 times or something in a level. lol

3D Land was such a fun Mario game, i enjoyed it alot. I definetly need to focus more on Mario Games, i will check out what else Mario Games are available on DS, 3DS and Switch.

I finished Illusion of Gaia a few days ago. I think this is the first time I've beaten it. And man, uh, it sure is a video game.

For me it had two big problems which were only slightly ameliorated by having save states available. The first is that there's usually no clear indicator for which action will move you on to the next part of the game. Ideally I want to do everything I can in an area before the game whisks me away to another one.

The other issue is that text boxes will often suddenly pop up unexpectedly and any input on the d-pad or face buttons advances the dialog. Walking along and suddenly some text pops up? Oop, too bad, you missed it. Guess you have to reload your save if you want to read that!

Oh, and the translation is awful. Just absolutely abysmal garbage. Incorrect pronouns abound. It's really clear that each block of text was independently translated with no eye toward context.

Other than that, pretty OK game. The dungeons aren't that engaging, but the action-RPG combat was fun enough to keep me going. I think the story was pretty compelling too, but it was hard to tell with how badly they butchered the localization.

Soul Blazer will always be an all-time great for me, but Illusion of Gaia is definitely a big step down. I'm baffled to this day that Nintendo Power chose to feature it on their cover over Final Fantasy III (VI). But now I'm ready for that new Terranigma port coming in January. I've never played it before.

I beat Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion last night. I don't think I'll be 100%-ing it though. Some of the levels are just brutally difficult for me.

Overall I enjoyed Side Order way more (and I DID 100% that), but I do appreciate the variety of gameplay ideas that Octo Expansion offers.

Finished Age of Imprisonment. It was decent, I played on Hard but found it rather easy once using the zonai devices clicked.

Not 100%, may still go through all of the characters Aside quests and the viscous battles. I'm not feeling any urge to replay all of the levels that I missed chests/Koroks.

Did anyone find AOI worth 100%ing?

Resident Evil Requiem. Spoilers to follow if you haven’t played yet.

The first act in the care centre was brilliant, a love letter to classic RE. Visually beautiful, and I thought the split gameplay styles, with more classic RE with Grace, and an RE4 action style with Leon worked rather well. Not much in the way of puzzles though, but that’s never been my favourite aspect of RE anyway. The first portion of the game definitely has the creepiest, most stress inducing sections.

I really liked act 2 as well, with Leon exploring the ruins of Raccoon City. As someone who’s done a lot of urban exploring over the years, this part spoke to me on a personal level. There was a whole block of abandoned homes I used to wander around, we affectionately called ‘Raccoon City’ haha. But yeah, as a long time RE fan it was an amazing feeling to come back to the place where it all started. Leon finding Marvin’s note regarding his surprise party was surprisingly touching.

And then we get to act 3 in the Ark facility, which for me is the weakest section of the game. I feel like this has been a consistent problem with the modern RE games, they’ve all been pretty solid overall, but just have a hard time sticking the landing. While there was some interesting architecture in places, and the overall premise of Ark was pretty cool, it was just a lot of boring, sterile hallways, and a lot of missed opportunities. You have this massive facility that’s been producing BOWs for decades, and yet all you really encounter are your basic zombies and some Lickers. Where are the Hunters? and the Chimeras, and whatever crazy new BOWs they’ve been developing? It was fine, but they could’ve done a lot more with it.

The story was pretty good, it’s interesting they give Spencer some pathos, who’s just always been this shadowy malevolent presence. I liked Grace, but for someone who’s a trained FBI agent she seemed a bit fragile, but I get she’s dealing with personal trauma. Some aspects of the story could’ve been better explained. Like who the heck is Zeno? It’s heavily implied he’s a clone of Wesker, based on his abilities and appearance, but unless I missed a file somewhere it’s never outright stated. It seems they’re setting up ‘The Connections’ to be the baddies for the inevitable RE10.

Anyway, I'd say it’s a worthy entry in the series I rather enjoyed, solid 8/10. Definitely gonna do another play through come spooky season.

Finished links awakening for the umpteenth time just now. All geared up to really dig into fire emblem now, and finish hopefully before ocarina drops. Might have a smaller pallet cleanser in there too like Pikmin 2 which I bought in the sale
