Okay. The recent Story of Seasons announcement has made me really miss farm sims. I’ve never played a Square Enix JRPG, but I usually like JRPGs. I played the Harvestella demo and it wasn’t anywhere near what I was expecting. I felt the farming part of it was very much out of place and in the background. I also felt that battle was a bit too underdeveloped for how much of it there was. Now, I’ve heard a ton about Rune Factory from my cousin, and I think Kate mentioned it in one of the “What Are You Playing This Weekend” articles. Is it as good as people say it is, or should I wait and try out Harvestella, or do you have any other suggestions?
My favourite this gen is propably the Doraemon Story Of Seasons. Not because it is the best, but because it has the best atmosphere and feel to it. It is really harmonious. The sequel to it was announced not too long ago.
Objectively it would be Rune Factory 5 or Story Of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town. Personnely I think Rune Facrory is really good. It really can not hurt to try it out.
Sakuna is another interesting farm sim. The only thing you cultivate is rice but at least it is very detailed for a videogame.

If you do have a Wii U still laying around somewhere, id recommend grabbing the very First Harvest Moon on that one (its just around 7 bucks depending on where you live ofc) and it can be enjoyed in short bursts.
If you dont have one, id say grab RF4 Special, its the one most love, and People claim RF5 and SoS Pioneers of Olive Town arent that great (i still have to make my opinion of them) so to be safe id say go with Rune Factory 4 Special, it shouldnt set you back much at this point either!
Someday, somewhere in the Sky...
may we meet again.
Well, the Wii U store Closes next Year so IF you happen to like that kind of game, your only option would be Emulating the OG Harvest Moon, its quite expensive... and 7 bucks is not the world right?
If you connected your Wii U / 3DS accounts with your Switch Account, you can buy it off the Website, if you dont want to cram your Wii U out.
The Story? Hm, normally i play them for the Fun but its your Typical Fantasy Story id say! (im not that far either, i just started because of the Hype of the Remake / New Series)

@Anti-Matter, thanks for the suggestions! I ended up buying Rune Factory 4 Special yesterday. Just wanted to say, me and my family have been living in Jakarta for about a year now and really liking it! It was really cool to see someone else on here to appreciate Indonesia.🇮🇩
