Topic: Puzzler World XL

Boasting thousands of puzzles, is anyone biting? I just got Crosswords Plus and I'm addicted to it so I really don't need any more puzzles. Anyone given it a shot?

I'm reviewing this one, and I have (and love) C+, so if you guys have any questions about how the two compare specifically I'll be glad to answer!

Philip, I would love to hear your insights as you play it. This is def cheaper than C+ but since it's by UFO I'm sure we have questions about the quality of the games. What great timing for them to release this, huh? lol. Actually, it's a smart idea, it could tempt those possible buyers of C+ who think that C+ is too expensive for their tastes.

For $5, I'll definitely get this one. I have Puzzler World [by Atari] for the DS but haven't played it yet. The US version of Puzzler World 2 for the DS was pulled from retail because of bugs in the game. I hope this downloadable version is a patched version of PW2 or something completely new.

EDIT: Just downloaded the game, there are:

• Challenge Mode - with 560 puzzles + a bonus puzzle for completing the main puzzle = 1120 puzzles [includes Wordsearch, Sudoku, Crossword, Hide & Seek, Link-A-Pix, Fitword, Backwords, Pieceword, Silhouette, Hangman, Chain Letters, Splitwords, Add-Up, Sum-Up, Picture Quiz, Perfect Pairs, Color-In and Jigsaw]
• Master Mode - this is greyed out from the start, you probably need to unlock it by completing puzzles.
• XL Bonus Wordsearch - with 592 puzzles.
• Trophies - 81 Trophies (and 1 big one for completing every puzzle)
• There are 3 Profile save slots.

Huh suprise game from UFO (was this even announced before?).

This one sounds like something I should download. Any impressions?

Interested. Is the music annoying or lame, and are there any music options?

The music is OK, there's a volume control in the Options to adjust the SFX and Music volume. The music only seems to play in the menus, not during gameplay.

Just saw the screenshots on the video on the eshop for this one and... yeah... argh. Looks pretty much like you are getting for what you are paying for it graphic and gameplay-wise. So I think I'll pass.

I watched the video and it actually looks pretty nice. I guess I'll wait for the review since I don't have any funds on my 3DS right now anyways

Well, it looks exactly the same as Puzzle World 2011, and that one got a good review here:

Actually, judging from this sole image, I can expect both games to be the same:

It did get a good score (8 out of 10) but if you read down in the comments, someone also said the game had game breaking bugs in the cartridge release. Just seems a little on the cheap side to me. Of course, I have been persuaded many times before to download something I initially got a weird feeling about, so I'll wait for the review.

So that means this is the version that got pulled from the stores according to AENIGMA (Puzzler World 2 / 2011 with another name).

Well, they had more than enough time to fix the bugs. I wonder if they did.
It's kinda cool that they gave it a second chance.

@aenigma Since you downloaded the game, what would your initial score be (From 1 to 10 stars) for this game, so far? Experienced any bugs yet?

You guys may be slowly persuading me. lol. Just watched the video again (on nintendo.com) and it actually looks a little better than I remember it looking on my 3ds eshop screen. I also like that it has more types of games available to play, too, like Link-a-Pix and such.

I must add that I love when games use the "book" way of holding the DS so that must explain why I want this to be good.

I also want to get it since Crosswords Plus is pretty overpriced here and this one looks even better lol.

I looked at a couple of videos on YouTube and so far, Puzzler World XL may be a fixed version of Puzzler World 2 (Puzzler World 2011 in the UK). The 1st Wordsearch puzzle in PWXL is the same as PW2.

I'd probably give the game an 8/10, for $5 you're getting a ton of content. If you're into puzzle games, there's a nice variety of puzzles to keep you occupied for a long time. I haven't run into any bug/glitches yet.

EDIT: I forgot to mention in the quick list that there are 3 save slots.

@AENIGMA Ok. You persuaded me. Along with others here. lol. I am a huge puzzle lover and I love Crosswords Plus (yeah, its a bit pricey, but I still love it) so I have no problem plonking down $5 to get this one. Downloading it right now
