I'm looking to finish off my Gamecube collection in the upcoming weeks. I'm only looking to buy games that I plan on playing (beating). I don't like turn based RPG's or most first person shooters, but I like most other types of games. Here is what I currently have:
Beyond Good And Evil Dr. Muto F-Zero GX Mario Golf Mario Kart Mario Sunshine Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Prince of Persia Two Thrones Rayman 3 Sonic Collection Sphinx Starfox Adventures Tak 1,2,3 TY 1,2,3 Tales of Symphonia Viewtiful Joe 1,2 All Zelda Games
Here are the games I plan on buying soon:
Megaman Collection Bomberman Generation Kao the Kangeroo 2 Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg Mario Power Tennis Prince of Persia Sands of Time/Warrior Within SSM Melee Wario World Cubivore Ikaruga Killer 7 Soul Caliber 2
Once I buy all of these, will I have most of the good Gamecube games? Are there any hidden gems out there? I really like Platform games, so if you know of any ones I don't have, please let me know as well.
Resident Evil 1 and 4 are good choices, and if you really like 1's style of play, I would pick up 2, 3, or Code Veronica, if you don't mind the graphics of 2 and 3. I actually preferred RE 4 on the Gamecube. A fantastic game.

On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. 'Tis a very silly place.
Thanks for all the replies, especially in such a short period of time!
I already have RE 4 for the Wii, but I still might pick up the GC version if I can get it cheap enough. I might get Paper Mario, but it's rather expensive at Gamestop. So, if I get all the games on my list, I'll have the majority of good games on the GC, right? I'm trying to put together a collection of all of the must have titles on the system.
@nintendonerd: i have the same kind of collection. as far as platformers, you've got most of the good ones covered there. the only ones i can think of i'd recommend is Crash Bandicoot (i can't remember the subtitle, but there's only one for GC) and I-Ninja (which is one of my favorite GC platformers, though keep in mind, it's also plenty difficult. you don't have many FPS games on there, except the Primes and they're different. if you want one, TimeSplitters is your best bet, and I'd go with Future Perfect, since it has the best story mode and most replay value. NightFire is good, too, though, as is Geist, if you want some puzzle in your shooter. i'm surprised you don't have Luigi's Mansion on that list. i don't think as highly of it as everyone else does, but it's a fun game and certainly worthy of your collection. as far as strategy goes,i agree with Faron that you need Pikmin, though, even better than that is Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, one of my all time favorite games. i still haven't decided if it's a shooter or an action game, but Resident Evil 4 is also a must buy. it's a masterpiece and stands on its own, so you don't need to play the others to enjoy it. if you're into superheroes, the X-Men Legends games are good beat-em-ups, and Ultimate Spiderman and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction are good sandbox action titles. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is a great stealth game, but if you're not into stealth (most of the time i just want to run in guns blazing), then there are better titles for you, such as Hitman 2, which lets you be stealthy or destructive. hack-and-slash action, i'd recommend Spartan: Total Warrior or either of the Lord of the Rings movie titles, as they're pretty classic action games. Dragon's Lair 3D, a lot of people don't like, and for good reason, but if you like quirky, precise action/platformers, it might be worth a look, as i found it pretty enjoyable if frustrating at points. if you like arcadey sports (i'm not much for the EA-type sports sims) Sega Soccer Slam or Mario Strikers are good buys, as are Mario Baseball, and the NBA/NFL/Fifa Street games. 1080 Snowboarding and SSX are also good, as is WaveRace Blue Storm for extreme sports. if you like party games, then Mario Party is obviously the way to go, and i'd say probably go with 7, just because it's the latest, and for the most part, there's little change from title to title. The Baten Kaitos games are good RPGs, but they do take a while to get into, and Lord of the Rings: The Third Age is a solid RPG, too, if you want something more old-school. if you want something simple and addicting, get Animal Crossing or Chibi-Robo (or both) they're both fantastic and will keep you coming for a long time). old-school compilations, i'd say Intellivision Lives, and either of the two Midway Arcade Treasures games... steer away from Namco Museum, because you can find all those titles anywhere. if you're a space shooter fan, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II or III are good buys, as is StarFox Assault, even if the ground portions are disappointing.
haha, i guess that's a lot to sift through. if you have any other questions, just ask. like i said, i'm also trying to get all the best games in every genre, and i have a lot more games than the ones i've mentioned (i think i'm around 65 now), so i can list more if you want.
These are the Cube game I have. Might be missing 1 or 2 and honestly some of them I've never played just because I was on a collecting spree.
Aggressive Inline Animal Crossing Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem F-Zero GX Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles From Russia With Love Geist Gladius Harvest Moon: Magical Melody The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Luigi's Mansion Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Mega Man X: Command Mission Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil Zero Star Fox Adventures Star Fox Assault Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader Star Wars Rogue Squadron III Super Mario Strikers Super Mario Sunshine Super Monkey Ball 2 Super Smash Bros. Melee Viewtiful Joe Viewtiful Joe 2 Wario Ware Inc. Mega Party Game$ Wave Race: Blue Storm XG3 Extreme-G Racing
I bought most based on positive reviews but a couple of them I only have because they came with the Cube I bought ie. Pokemon, James Bond. Aggressive Inline I only bought because it was $2 and I wanted the case since it was virtually new. I believe there were about 15 more games I wanted for my collection but I don't think I'm going to buy anymore since my priorities have changed. I also have 3 Gamecubes (1 modded), 4 Wavebirds, 6 regular controllers, and 4 memory cards.
Just out of interests sake here's the list I had of games I was planning on buying.
Beyond Good & Evil Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Killer 7 The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Mario Party 6 Mario Power Tennis Mega Man Anniversary Collection Mega Man X Collection P.N.03 Pac-Man Vs. Pikmin Pikmin 2 Puyo Pop Fever Resident Evil The Sims 2 Skies of Arcadia Legends Tales of Symphonia TimeSplitters 2 TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
P.N.03 was a pretty fun (and under-appreciated, IMO) game that can be found for dirt cheap used. Definitely get that one. Alien Hominid is pretty badass as well, especially if you've got some friends to play with.
@Panda: yeah, Alien Hominid is good. unfortunately i've been unable to track it down recently. it's not one that's easy to come by, but, seeing as he's already got Ikaruga in his library, i'd say he's prepared to deal with that.

Holy crap, you guys are awesome! I forgot to list Luigi's Mansion on my list, as I do have that. I'm really trying my hardest NOT to collect (like I used to do for NES) and to only buy games that I one day plan on beating. If Gamecube game prices weren't so damn high, I'd be racking up a huge collection. I remember around 11 years ago when EB was getting out of carrying NES games, and you could buy them for next to freaking nothing! I doubt this will ever happen with Gamecube. They sell the Mario Party games for $15-$25 and Pikmin 2 is $40!!!
@nintendonerd: yeah, same here, that's why i haven't finished my collection yet. still, what kind of thing specifically are you looking for to, say, plug some holes in your collection?
“I am a brother to dragons and a companion to owls." Job:30:29
Really don't have much more to add except for one thing. If you have to get one Mario Party (and at $25, ONLY get one), get 7. 7 was the best on the Cube - surprisingly clever humor, nice board variations, and 8-player mode (1 person got control stick and L button, 2nd person got C-stick and R button). 5 comes in at a close second, followed by 6, DO NOT get 4 (way too slow).
And yes, I did have all the Mario Party games for the Cube at the time. I was a nerd I sold 4, 5, and 6 at Gamestop, but kept 7 as it was a gift from my dad before he passed away (came with my black Gamecube he got me after my old purple one stopped reading discs). I don't regret keeping 7 for a second, though I've considered buying 5 back cheap from a friend at school.
The games listed above are awesome, but there is one missing: I didn't see anyone mention Donkey Kong Jungle Beat! The downside is that you really need to use a Bongo controller to get the most out of the game... but it's a great game if you like unlocking secret levels and looking for cool combos that will boost your high score.
Oh, and one other title I just though of: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is also very good (and very cheap). Google a few reviews, and pick it up if that sounds like your kind of game.
