Terrible graphics? yeah, pretty much. Terrible controls? Not quite terrible quality, but close, I'll give that. But this game, one you let yourself get passed those flaws can be quite fun and engaging. I loved it as a child and even beat it. Playing it today does make the game feel extremely dated, but it's not that bad. Not five star quality, more like three and a half but since there is no halves in the rating scale, I'm going for three.
A wonderful game... on the Nintendo 64. Quite possibly one of the single best games on the Nintendo 64 without question. But it was released way too early for the VC. You have to remember that Zelda fans up to this point may already have around THREE copies of the game, the original and the two Gamecube special edition copies that included it. If they had waited around one more year to release it, it would have been great timing, in my personal opinion. Nonetheless, great game and for anyone who hasn't played the original, get it! It is worth it!
As I mentioned I would back in May, I have purchased and downloaded this game and am currently giving it a good try. So far, I like it. I hate the "paper" effect and always have. I think it was one of the major reasons I have never given this game a good try.
I've been wondering... with so many parallels in storyline to Super Mario RPG (like the storyline involving Stars), I wonder if Nintendo meant for this to be a replacement, not just a sequel, to Super Mario RPG.
Nonetheless, so far, I like it, and I'll do my best to play through to the end of the game.
I don't really care for these types of games, but it does look interesting and all of the boosts here make it sound good... Should I really consider buying this? Of course, I'm still playing Paper Mario right now...
I've always understood that the same people who made Doki Doki Panic were the same people who made the Mario series. Anyways, this is a great game that I spent a lot of time in my youth playing and I for one will probably end up downloading today.
How come Europe does seem to get some decent games a good bit earlier than the US all the time? Mega Man is one of the best games on the NES (yes, very tough... so freakin' tough...)
I loved this game. Not that it's the greatest Zelda, of course, but it was on par for what Nintendo delivered back in the day, aka it didn't disappoint for an NES game (unless you compared it to the original Zelda, then it did). I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Damo: I concur with everything and I understand that point of view... doesn't make me happy though. =P
On the same level, there are plenty of games for the NES and SNES that I never got to play. Zombies Ate my Neighbors for instance is one upcoming VC release that I've never played. So I'm not completely wanting my old tried and true games.
I am willing to admit the TG16 and Genesis games are great in their own right, but in all honesty, I would rather play some of my old favorite NES games first.
I mean no offense to Nintendo, but I really got into the idea of the VC because I loved the older Nintendo games... but they keep doing Genesis and TG16 games before Nintendo games. Come on, Nintendo, I want to play the great games that I want! This week is just disappointing, only Excitebike is the game that saves it. No offense to anyone who loves the other two, but I just have no interest in them.
I personally would like a better overall selection. More games should have been released by now instead of just a couple being released at a time. It's starting to get ridiculous.
I loved Galaga for the NES. I still have it somewhere with my NES games. I always felt it was a great, faithful port of the arcade game and it will be on my "must purchase" list. Here's to hoping it'll be out in America on Monday.
I think Brian Drayton and "Former Rare Employee" made some great points. But I still feel there are legal issues. If the game had a Nintendo character, I will bet we'll see the game. Yes, we'll see Donkey Kong 64 at some point. But will we Goldeneye? Well, if whoever releases it wants to pay for the rights to the Bonds license, perhaps... just don't expect it.
I just don't see Nintendo and Microsoft cooperating in this case. The only games you'll see on the VC that was made by Rare will be the games that starred Nintendo characters. Any other games, especially original games by Rare, may never see a release on the VC... I hate to say it.
A message on the Nintendo.com forum says Chew Man Fu and Bio Hazard is also coming out today. There's an hour yet before we know, but the websites for Hudson and Sega both comfirm this (well, I know that Sega's website has been wrong in the past, but still...)

Re: Galaga '90
Absolutely fabulous game. No regrets here in buying it.
Re: Devil's Crush
The video that's posted makes this look like a great pinball game... this may be on my gotta download list.

I loved this game as a child! I'm glad to see it released!
Re: US VC Releases - 28th May - Actraiser
I loved ActRasier and lost my copy a long time ago. It'll be purchased as soon as I can afford it. Now, where's Zombies Ate My Neighbors?
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Ugh. 600 points for TMNT? I won't be buying it for sure. I may check out Starfox 64 and finally see what the hubbub is all about.
Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV
Ha! Yeah, from the amount of people clammering for SMRPG and SF64 both, they'd have nearly a million to make. Probably more than that.
Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV
If this is the only game today, I'm going to be really disappointed.
