I'm surprised there's no mention of the NES version of Batman on this site. Until the release of the two Arkham games, that was the greatest Batman game ever.
Eh, 8 is a fair score. I can live with that. One minor quibble though: as with most home versions of arcade games, Double Dragon wasn't a "port" in the strictest sense of the term, it was an adaptation. There is quite a difference. Other than that, good review.
Yeah! Double Dragon II! I have my old NES cart, but finally, after 6 years of waiting, other people who didn't hang on to their old systems will have the chance to play it. Seriously, what took so long? Do Nintendo and Aksys NOT want to make money? I still can't believe Konami re-released Contra 2 and Contra 3 but NOT the first game. They even made a BRAND NEW Contra for WiiWare. What's the deal?
Yeah, I also wish it was TimeSplitters. But Crytek says there's no way they're greenlighting it until they see proof that enough people would be willing to pay for it. I say they should do an HD compilation of the first three and see how it sells. Come to think of it, I wouldn't even care if they didn't remaster them in HD, it would still be worth it just to have them in standard def or merely upscaled with online play enabled.
While it might seem far fetched for Nintendo to offer different bundles, consider this: when the NES was released in NA, there were not two, not three, but four different bundles at launch. Given the company's current obsession with their past, they could very well take a page out of their '85 playbook.
those were interesting points. If Nintendo were to include the game as a pack-in title like they did with two other 2D Mario games (Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World), I'm sure that would win over a whole bunch of people who are on fence about buying a Wii U. Given the lackluster interest in the console, it would really help out.
I guess he must have changed his mind over the last few years. I wonder what made him say Super Mario Bros. 2 is now his favorite Mario of all time. I wouldn't mind seeing another Mario 2-style game. It might not be a "real" Mario but I thought it was awesome. It would be a nice change of pace from all these "New Super Mario Bros." that keep using the same gameplay. Gotta mix things up every few years.
Seeing as how Miyamoto says his favorite Mario game is Super Mario World, should we really be surprised at all the references to it? I loved that game, and if New Super Mario Bros. 2 is going to use it as a foundation, it should be amazing.
I agree it looks like an upscaled GameCube game, but like I always say, gameplay is all that matters. I have never played a 2D Mario game I didn't like.
My only experience with Kirby is the Smash Bros. series. I hear they're extremely easy games, but as a Nintendo fan, I'll have to get around to playing them some day.
I still prefer the 2D Zeldas over the 3D ones. More action, less talking, no 10 minute cutscenes. Anyway, I think Nintendo should focus more on making new games rather than rehashing old titles over and over again, regardless of how great they are.
Man, I can't believe I don't own any of the Mega Man X games. Mega Man 3 for the NES is one of my favorite games of all time, and I have some fond memories of Mega Man 2. I'd give both a 10 out of 10, they're perfect.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Art Brings Back Old Favourites
Just wanted to issue a correction before someone else points it out. I said Super Mario World was Miyamoto's favorite Mario game based on this article:http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/09/super-mario-world-is-miyamotos-favorite-mario-game/
Here's what he told IGN a few days ago:http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/15/this-is-shigeru-miyamotos-favorite-mario-game

Re: E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. U Media Blowout
The game looks awesome by the way. I won't be able to afford it for like 5 years but hey, I can dream. Lousy job market.
Re: E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. U Media Blowout
Am I the only one who thought of the old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon while watching the flying squirrel part of the video?

Not even 30 yet and I'm starting to feel old.
Re: E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Trailer Goes for Gold
I'm still waiting to play Super Mario Sunshine.
