Earlier this year, SEGA revealed a life-size Sonic statue that contained the hedgehog's "DNA" (yes, really), housed in the Shibuya SEGA store. In the months since, a trip to Tokyo has been the only way you could get a look at the weird creation, but you'll soon be able to have one in your home... if you can stomach the insane price tag.

As brought to our attention by Dexerto, the "DNA"-filled statue will soon be available as a smaller figurine for an eye-watering ¥3,300,000 (which is around $20,000 or £16,000, for those wondering). It's now available to pre-order from the Kadokawa store and is expected to ship (oh yes, the above cost doesn't include shipping) in January 2027 — not that it matters, because who is buying this??

Let's get to the "DNA" elephant in the room. Much like its life-sized counterpart, the figure's filling has been created by the science and art team LOM BABY, which has worked to re-create Sonic's DNA based on his appearance and physical characteristics. The "DNA" itself is made with nucleic acid, for the biologists out there, and is housed inside a Chaos Emerald in a translucent section of the figure's chest.

The silver figure encasing stands at a little under 10 inches tall on a blue base with a unique serial number on the bottom. You know what, it's probably better that you just see it for yourself.

Honestly, we assumed that the $6,330 porcelain Sonic statue that we saw a few weeks back would be the strangest bit of SEGA merch we covered for a while, but this... this blows everything else out of the water.

What do you make of this DNA figure? Let us know in the comments.
