The new-ish first-person camera has revealed all kinds of secrets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including some of the neat little Easter Eggs that were hidden in plain sight. For example, did you ever figure out what music is written on the chalkboard in the game?
You'll never guess. Oh, what's that? You totally did guess? You can sight-read music, which is a very normal skill to have? Okay, fine.
For those who can't read sheet music — it's the Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme tune, which you can listen to here!
But did you ever find out... What's written on the typewriter?
The typewriter has a few words written on it in Romaji, the transliterated, romanised way to write Japanese in the Latin alphabet.
It reads:
HELLO
OTSUKARE SAMADESU.
GOKIGEN URUWASYU.
TAIYOUSANSANURESIINA.
MAINICHIATSUIKEDO
GANBATTERUYO
Which, translated, means (translation — Komugi Neko):
Hello
Thank you for your hard work.
How are you?
I'm happy that the sun is shining bright.
Although it's hot every day
I've been doing well
How sweet is that? It's very sweet. Thanks to Komugi Neko for the investigation!

I half expected "All work and no play makes Tom Nook a dull boy" on the typewriter but still very cool the text was even legible for such a small item.
Honestly never expected to hear that song again. Nostalgia is already coming in even though it has only been two years.
This is what I love about this game, the amount of tiny little details. It's so good.
Looked at the thumbnail and was able to answer the question immediately. Finally, a use for those 7 years I trained in music and went on to do absolutely nothing with! To brag about on an online newsite, the highest achievement possible for any human bean!
Edit: "being" autocorrected to "bean," but let's leave it that way
The letter is so wholesome.
It's the song from The Grinch when they are all around the Christmas tree.
I’d have assumed it couldn’t be anything other than the Final Fantasy battle victory theme..
It’s Jigglypuff as seen from above
@sanderev,
Same here, the attention to detail is astounding, the best game in the series for me, and the graphics make all these little details even more awesome, I have been using the new handheld camera mode to look at things close up, the museum is an great place to do this.
Um, so what is the song, then (and why is it not Totaka's Song, grumble grumble grumble)? Maybe I'm some sort of philistine, but I can't recall ever hearing it before.
@Fath It's the theme song to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
@JRokujuushi Ah, ok, thanks for the straight answer; shows how much of a non-player of the series itself I am, though I do still appreciate the experience it's aiming for and enjoy reading what other people make of it .
It's absolutely wild that a written article passes the buck to some YouTube videos to provide the answers to the questions in the article. I'm sure there is some argument for mixed-media engagement and having ads both all over the site and then ad revenue for the videos, but when you're just trying to read and article and don't have means to watch a video, this article is worthless.
@ISeven I've added more information in the article. This was the last thing I wrote at the very end of my work day last week, so it was a little light on information, and I apologise!
It's certainly not up to my usual standard, but as I said... it was the last thing I wrote on a Friday afternoon, so I hope you can grant me a little leeway for that 😅
