Last I checked it was $24.99 here in the states not $29.99.

Characters don't matter to me, I'd rather receive a discount and just unlock said characters. Either way I'm getting it just dont feel the need to pre-order.
Unfortunately I'll have wait on a physical copy of this game. I need to use those Nintendo coins before they expire so digital it is, save me a little money for the rest of my pickups for next month. August 7th can't come soon enough.
@Spoony_Tech I want to play this with a friend day 1 so I'm preordering anyways. But the wording at various different places confuses me whether or not some or all of these characters are preorder exclusive.
I know 1 is a switch exclusive atleast. Don't know why Nintendo Life didn't list him since this is a an article about the switch listing. It's the platypus chef. Brings the total to 6 chefs.
@ryancraddock That and the price for the US digital version should be reflected in the article
Ugh. I hate these preorder bonus like stuff already, but for some reason, it being a digital only preorder chafes me even more. Probably because the physical version is coming and might not included preordered characters. Even if they do, I would still dislike how that means digital, non-preorder buyers have an inferior version.
Such muddy waters for something so useless.
So for a new player is it best skipping the first one and jumping on this?
@Joker13z Hi! All five are exclusive to pre-orders, but not exclusive to any console in particular. The Platypus chef you mentioned is exclusive to Switch, but doesn't have anything to do with this pre-order exclusivity - hence why it wasn't mentioned.
The pricing there was just provided by Team17, but you're right that the Nintendo store lists it at a different price. There seems to be a little confusion on the matter!
So wait. the physical copy of the game wont be at launch? Aww man. Then I'll wait then.
The 1st game was really good. The Treehouse segment of Overcooked 2 at E3 this year was awesome and really hilarious.
I have no friends for Nintendo ID.
Is this game has online lobby?
The New features are look Great.
But, as long i can easily unlock each level WITHOUT tied by Star level.
It was VERY Frustrating to unlock more stars on previous game.
Thanks for the preorder bonus reminder. Will get it on PS4 though.
I've always loved the look of the original game but never bought it as I don't often have anyone to play with so I'm happy to see you can play online with the sequel.Does this one have single player?
I was planning to buy this within the launch month, so this just speed up my purchase date to launch day.
@ryancraddock Guess I'll preorder sooner than later just in case the price changes haha. And the console exclusive chef to Switch is this one I'm talking about. It's listed on the Amazon store page in one of the promo images as a Switch exclusive chef. I'm guessing it's that way for the eshop too.
For reference: https://www.amazon.com/Overcooked-2-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07DPKYRRL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1532612430&sr=8-1&keywords=Overcooked+2
I've only played a little bit of the first one because it's too hard to get people together to play it. Pretty fun though. I don't like this preorder bonus stuff though. I don't really want the game at launch because I haven't really played the first one yet and if I don't get it at launch then it'll feel like I'm not getting the full package so I probably won't end up buying it at all. It's also on the pricy side for an eShop game so I don't want to buy it unless I know I'm gonna find time to play it.
@WindWakerLink The physical edition comes out the same day as digital
@ieatdragonz Not a digital preorder only bonus. Applies to physical too as shown by the Amazon store page.

Man the confusion in this article and comment section is hot today lol.
@ieatdragonz
Preordering physically or digitally, nets you the exact same preorder bonuses.

They didn't say how it would be distributed, but I imagine it's just a paper with an eshop code on it.
@Joker13z
Lol, we posted that at the exact same time. Yeah lots of confusion, and I'm not really sure where it's coming from. I thought Team17 has been pretty clear from the beginning.
Already pre order the first day it was announced. Lovely game
@MoonKnight7 Haha yep. Yeah it's odd to me that there is so much confusion. Especially since apparently they gave Ryan that pricing when their own eshop listing says differently. Them not including the Switch exclusive chef preorder bonus in the press release is weird too.
@MoonKnight7 @Joker13z Alright, so its just the regular preorder annoyance then. Thanks for the clarification.
Like you two have said, the confusion about this game is a bit off. They announced it last month but still there's not a clear set price nor set physical release date. Ah well, at least the game itself is going to spicier than Indian curry (had to throw a food metaphor somewhere).
@ieatdragonz As far as I know the physical release date is set for the same day as well. Atleast every store I can look up has the 7th as the release date for physical pre orders. Though it does cost a whooping $15 more for physical.
@ieatdragonz ( @Joker13z )
The tweet I sent you, it has an Aug. 7th release date, the same as the digital release. It's Aug 7th for sure. The article is incorrect about the pricing for digital (at least in the U.S.), it's $24.99 not 30 bucks, so I get the confusion there. And yeah, physical is much more, it's up to you if it's worth it or not. If you have Amazon Prime, you'll get a nice discount though, just keep it in mind.
@MoonKnight7 We need to stop double teaming this poor guy lmao. Sorry for blowing up your notifications @ieatdragonz
@Joker13z "Overcooked 2 launches on Nintendo Switch on 7th August for £19.99 / €24.99 / $29.99 with a boxed retail version also on the way. Pre-orders are available right now."
Yet another part of the article that confused me. If it was coming same day, best to put more definite wording.
Lol, I dont mind the notifications haha. Normally I would look this up myself, but am a little busy with other things. Nice to have someone look it up and report back for me
@ieatdragonz All pre-orders will receive the bonus chef pack, including physical.
@WindWakerLink Overcooked! 2 will be launching both digitally and boxed on August 7th.
Loved the original. An excellent party game with friends!
@Wazeddie22 Yep! There is single player, as well as the new online multiplayer. Overcooked! 2 supports 1-4 players.
So, you mean to tell me that if I don't preorder, there's no way to unlock the extra chefs in-game? Man, this reeeeeeaally rubs me the wrong way.
I can't preorder as the funds don't allow for game spending for a while, so I may as well just wait for a sale since I won't be getting all the goodies anyway. 😒
@onex I don't like preorder exclusive stuff either generally. But atleast it's just a cosmetic thing. And maybe I'm different but I never really cared about the chef I picked in the first game. I just randomly picked one lol. Game is too chaotic to appreciate the character you picked.
So you're not really missing out on much if you don't preorder it in my opinion. So wait for a nice sale
@onex
Not true. If you don't preorder, you can still get the chefs later, you'll just have to pay for them.
Nintendo has the chefs listed as $2.99:
https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/overcooked-2-switch#add-on-content
The only one that's locked out is the platypus if you get the game on Xbox or PS4. It is exclusive only to Switch. As far as I can tell, that character has no bearing on if you preorder or not.
I’ve been trying to clear out the first game recently in preparation for this one. It’s possibly my favorite local co-op party game ever.
I really need that platypus chef in my life....
Err,.. on PC you get the 5 cooks plus a 25% Off for pre-order.
com-on Team17... you know you want to match that 😏
@lauren_team17 Thanks for the reply.Online AND singleplayer?That's another purchase they have earned right there then!
'We've pulled these 5 characters out of the game so we could convince you to pre-order, pay up suckers!...or you could just buy them later even though they should just be in the game.'
I hate this kinda stuff, it makes me less likely to buy a game after it releases.
@lauren_team17 & @Joker13z
Thanks. That's what I was thought.
@Joker13z True, they are cosmetic, but still fun characters and add to the game's charm. :/
@MoonKnight7 That's a bit worse tbh. Basically, if you don't preorder, you're not getting the full game, and have to pay extra if you wait. It's not like these "bonuses" were created after launch. It's day one DLC disguised as a preorder bonus.
