Hello! I've been thinking recently about non-nintendo games that feel like Nintendo games. What I mean is something like Hifi Rush for example. Intuitive gameplay, smart level design, simple(ish) story, cartoony art style etc. Basically, I was wondering if anyone else had games that "felt" like Nintendo games, even if they weren't.
Tearaway feels very Nintendo. A PS Vita game that uses every feature of the handheld and connects it all within the story and gameplay, from the cameras to the gyro to the rear touch pad, it's all handled in a way that's not too dissimilar from how Nintendo uses games to showcase their weird console gimmicks and I think it'd fit right in on the Wii U or Switch.
"Now I have an obligation to tag along and clear the area if Luigi so much as glances at a stiletto."
@N00BiSH Yeah, I just watched some footage, and I agree! Never heard of the game before, but looks awesome if I'm being honest. What a cool idea for a game! Very nintendo-esque.
Any Rayman game, idk what Ubisoft was smoking when they made those but they're imaginative, well thought-out games, unlike the other slop they put out in the open-world space.
@jedgamesguy In this case, Ubisoft Montpellier's output is slim, but pretty good. All the Rayman games. Beyond Good and Evil. The really good Prince of Persia game from the beginning of the year. More obscure stuff like ZombiU, Valiant Hearts, From Dust, etc.
I also really happen to like the Trials and Mario + Rabbids series.
Even the Montreal branch that does all their AAA stuff also released the delightful side-scrolling JRPG-like game Child of Light.
Ubisoft has plenty of good stuff when you look outside of their AAA content.
@Ralizah Yeah I had to explain that to my friend a few weeks ago with the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, how there’s lots of different studios under Ubisoft hence the disparity in quality. Montpelier is just about the only studio I’ve seen under Ubi that makes consistently good games, and they have thousands of people across the world. I’d also mention Milan since they made the Mario + Rabbids games.
Funnily enough Trials Fusion was actually my first Ubisoft game (discounting Just Dance) and I found it challenging, meticulous and very funny with its slapstick comedy.
