Topic: wireless headset/mic on switch

Been looking at several adapters and not really sure what to buy here.

I'd like to use a Bluetooth headset with mic, and use the actual mic on the headset while the switch is docked. Is there a way to do this?

You should contact Nintendo Support on this or the maker of the device you want to use to confirm if it works on not on Switch. Remember this is a world wide forum and so unless you can tell those reading what regions or location your from asking for this is like Looking for a Needle in haystack question.

@HobbitGamer
I read about those but it states audio. I’m wondering if you can use the headset mic also

Did you ever resolve this. Looking for a wireless headset with mic function for my son to play Fortnite. Lots of conflicting information,even retailers descriptions are proving misleading...

@Walex11 Nintendo Switch's bluetooth audio system is for listening only - it doesn't have a microphone function for voice chat. Fortnite developers' added a workaround software tweak that enables voice chat headphone & mic functions if you plug into the Switch headphone jack. So, that is a way to do voice chat, but that method is not wireless.

I've only seen a couple threads mention that you can buy a third party adapter so you can use a bluetooth headphone & mic for voice chat on the Switch. However, I've never seen anyone follow up in the forum to recommend one of these third party bluetooth adapters.

EDIT: Look at that! @Lazz below has a recommendation. Thanks @Lazz!

Currently Switch doesn't have mic communication system setup or hardware setup for this. Maybe Switch 3 might change this hardware setup but until then it would require software and hardware update to have this capability to use and work with.

Picked this up for my son to play Fortnite - voice chat works docked (through a USB dongle) and in handheld (through the headphone port). He hasn't had any trouble using voice chat - but it will only work for compatible games. He's also able to use it for audio only while docked, which is nice as no one else in the family can hear the games he's playing.

@Lazz You might be the first person in the forum I've ever seen recommend an actual bluetooth headset for voice chat on the Switch. Thank you, @Lazz. Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Like the latency values on that - it's spoken audio so it shouldn't make too much difference, but at 20ms, shouting "look out!" will probably be too late...
(That 120ms delay on Bluetooth will make watching films a bit trippy)

@WoomyNNYes Thank you! I decided to sign up recently after lurking on these pages for YEARS. Just a caveat on this recommendation, my 10 year old son uses the headset, all I know is he likes it (and the headphones were inexpensive).
@rambler - My son really uses it to chat with his buddies, talk about where they are heading to next... they really aren't at the level where a delay will impact them. They seem pretty good for casual play, but I have not used them.
I've been tempted to try a Bluetooth adapter from 8bitdo and connecting my AirPods - but I would be bummed if that didn't provide the voice option - and I'm not sure if that will work. Not that I'd really use it with the Switch. I really only play Fortnite with my son, and let him lead me around. We bark orders on the couch
