Just out of curiosity has anyone picked up Anodyne 2? Got it when it came out Thursday and did something that I haven't done in years which was to rush through it. I found the original to be one of the more underrated indie titles on the eshop, criminally overlooked, and I'm afraid this is going to go the same way. It's superior to the original in almost every way and while I feel the 3-D environments a little undercooked (purely in terms of the game mechanics that is) they have an undeniable charm.

I also feel that anybody that found the more esoteric features of the original will be much more welcome here, it's more accessible while still maintaining that Yume Nikki-esque oddness from the original that I found so compelling. Very interested in hearing what people think of it.

I actually just beat this on PC like a day before it came out on Switch. I think I liked the original better, but maybe that's because I actually played that on Switch and I prefer consoles to PC. It was fun, though, although I got stuck for awhile one time because I seemed to have done everything had absolutely no clue what I was supposed to do next, which I don't think ever happened in the first one. But yes, both of these games are definitely worth playing. I thought the 3D sections definitely took some time to get used to and it was easy to get lost at first, but I got the hang of it fairly quickly.

@Xyphon22 That's interesting. The Switch port is decent, it has its downsides and isn't quite as optomised as it could have been but there was nothing that took me out of the game. I find the sequel went a little further with its ideas both making some of the implied meaning behind the first clearer will just telling a more approachable narrative in general. The 2-D sections were just such a delight as well. I actually intend to go straight back to the original next to see how it shapes up in comparison.
