OOT Remake footage from a 2nd trailer is guaranteed and will obviously be the main focus here. Combined with an oversaturation of too many 'how to play' tutorial gameplay montages, like with every single brand new nintendo exclusive(StarFox & Yoshi being the latest prime examples...good lord). it's like, leave it as a mystery for jeebs sake. They need to cool it down with the over exposure, and go back to dishing out a couple of commercials or trailers, and some screen shots. Modern Nintendo just leaves less to the imagination, because they reveal and spoil too much of their titles.

Would be so awesome if they ressurected and remade StarTropics(NES), maybe remaster Kid Icarus Uprising, and give it 9-Axis Gyro Pointer/Motion controls to replace the stylus functionality from the 3DS original, a more artistically bizarre 'ClayMation' Styled Punch-Out!! with funkier disproportioned characters. a Wario Land 6 would be fantastic. Shake it! on Wii was superb when striving for 100% completion. I'm place that in my top 10 platformers of all time without question. And MK World is in need of some DLC to finally make it feel more complete, topped with a 200cc mode.

Plus, a few brand new from the ground up Nintendo developed Virtual Boy games would be amazing, to go along side the unreleased Zero Racers & new favourite D-Hopper. Love the new filter options too, especially Super GameBoy & Green/Black.

And I know so many younger Nintendo fans(in the teenage, 20 & early 30's bracket) gush over Xenobloades, Fire Emblem, Mario Party, Animal Crossing, & Pokemon, but i've just never been able to get into any of those franchises. I'm open to a future NS2 edition for the latest Pokemon Snap that's clocked at 60fps, maybe...But then, i can't help imagine just how incredible it would all go down in VR for something like the upcomming steam frame.

But yes, We need a revival for Kid Icarus, StarTropics, Punch-Out & Wario Land. The Big N got ballsy with NSO Virtual Boy, no doubt, and it's nice to see StarFox 64 get a near 1:1 modern remaster/remake, but i wish they'd get a little more riskay' and delve back into some of their older franchises that have been left for dead. If they're willing to keep taking chances with a new Pikmin title or releasing that NSO virtual Boy shell/replica, than what's stopping them from ressurecting StarTropics, Kid Icarus or Punch-Out!! or a new Wario Land sequal? Guess we'll just have to wait and see this month!

@Bolt_Strike I'd imagine the main team at HAL is hard at work on the next 3D Kirby, and I think that it will be ready in 2027 but held back until Spring 2028.

As far as 2D Kirby goes, I think the next original entry will be a late generation title (2030 or 2031 most likely). Does mean there'd be a very large gap between original 2D entries though...

I'm just throwing this out there - I could see that alleged Kirby Planet Robobot remaster being in December.

at this point I'm putting that Robobot remaster in the "things that were never real" category, the same one where Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD Switch ports and Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remasters are

I would still like to see them pull out a polished up 3DS Kirby game from the back catalouge. A Planet Robo or Epic Yarn. Still think it would be a good late Switch (1) offering. I know Robo was heavily rumoured a while back, but things seemed to have died on that front. Same with Wooly World for Yoshi.

@Sylamp I think you're right. Just posted about that myself at the same time. It all started from NateTheHate I think? Whenever I hear him being reported as the source, I roll my eyes at the mention. Lol. Till we get Robot, that shall remain the case. 🤣

@Mana_Knight the thing with NateTheHate is that he has a good track record for Direct dates and such but his track record for games is nowhere near as good so whenever I see him saying "X game is definitely coming out this year, maybe even in a few months" I just roll my eyes

@Sylamp Good point on the directs. He has been right on them. Has he said anything on this one coming up? I still view him with a side eye for the most part, just bitter because I love Kirby and thought we were getting it. 😆

I personally don't think we're getting a General Direct before Fortune's Weave releases. I would like to be wrong, but at the same time I don't see Nintendo drowning out Fire Emblem by talking about Ocarina of Time's remake. Plus, they've shown pretty much everything they can of Fortune's Weave and there's not many surprises left after the direct for that game. Usually Nintendo would put an ad in a General Direct talking about the game that's due to come out in a few weeks (if the direct is happening right before the launch of a game).

I feel like we're probably going to get a Partner showcase soon (even though I dislike those because I don't buy third party games on any platform outside of PC). We'll probably see a specific Zelda-focused direct after Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave launches, and it'll have a focus on the Zelda movie alongside the Ocarina of Time remake. I imagine the Ocarina of Time remake will be the only Zelda game they show off, given that the main team for Zelda isn't going to have anything to show for a long while given the timeline Tears of the Kingdom took- and given the fact that Nintendo has swapped to a model where they only show games that are just about to release. We know that we won't be getting another 2D game for a while unless it reuses the Echo of Wisdom and Links Awakening art style/assets. Zelda spin-offs are also pretty much dead as well (outside of Hyrule Warriors, which won't get a new game because there's no 3D Zelda to base it off of, and I doubt they're going to do another attempt at what the original Hyrule Warriors did).

@Mana_Knight The only person saying a direct is coming up is SwitchForce, who has unfortunately been credible before. I hate that the clown himself is able to actually get credible information on Directs..

I wonder if Tropical Freeze is next with the Switch 2 updates, looking at the Wii U ports:

  • NSMBU - Got a free update at launch
  • Pikmin 3 - Got a free update this week
  • 3D World - Got a free update at launch
  • Tropical Freeze - ?
  • MK8 - Got a free update this week
  • Hyrule Warriors - ?
  • Captain Toad - Got a free update at launch
  • XCX - Got a Switch 2 Edition in February
  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions - ?
  • BotW - Got a Switch 2 Edition at launch
  • Platinum releases (Bayonetta 1+2, Wonderful 101) - ?

I really don't think SwitchForce has a leak this time. There is simply almost always a September Direct before Tokyo Game Show; Sep 8-10 has been the most 'standard' guess for months. The Just Dance info just tilted more people towards Sep 10.

Note that dumping out random smaller news updates like it has been doing this week is also consistent with before-direct behavior.

@Mana_Knight Epic Yarn wasn't a 3DS game, Extra Epic Yarn was itself a port and the original was on the Wii. The only original Kirby games on the 3DS were Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot (also some spinoffs, but are they going to remake/remaster those?).

if there is a direct this month and it's not a general direct I hope it's a partner showcase + indie world combo direct

Bolt_Strike

I could live without a general if they at least give us a Zelda's 40th this month and tell us what kind of remake OoT is. That's the biggest question they need to answer right now.

@Bolt_Strike It's that plus early 2027 for me. It's not that I don't love random Nintendo Today drops. It's that I'd rather watch a Direct.

If OoT remake is more than a 1:1 remake, I think it needs a Chadley-like character. Whether that's making Navi or the owl more like Chadley or creating a brand new character.

Just over an hour away from the State of Play + State of Play Japan, will be very interesting to see what Switch/Switch 2 announcements come out of it.
