Topic: Transferring Miis Between Switches

Does anyone know if there’s any way to transfer miis from one switch to another? I have some pretty good miis that I would like to have on my second switch, but I don’t want to make them again if I don’t have to.

(I looked at all the forums, but couldn’t find anything talking about the switch. There was one about the Wii/Wii U, but it didn’t really apply to the switch)

Thanks!!

It's incredibly straightforward. You already have the option to wirelessly send Miis from one Switch to another via the Mii settings.

If transferring Miis from a 3DS or Wii U, however, you will need to have an amiibo (any card or figurine will do), and you will need to make the amiibo the "owner" of any Mii that you intend to transfer to the Switch. Special Miis won't be transferable in this way, however.

@Silly_G I was transferring my profile to a new Switch over Christmas and of ALL the things to give me a migraine, it was transferring the goddamn Mii's. Everything else worked flawlessly, redownloading games, save data, play times, etc. The one that was going awry were the mii's: no matter how many times I tried to send them over, the message 'an error has occured' would pop up on the source console. It took, and I am serious here, TEN TRIES before it finally worked. Bloody hell. The worst thing is that I needed those Mii's for games like Smash and Miitopia so I was getting worried I wouldn't be able to play them if this didn't work (I later learned this wasn't the case but at the time that was my thought process).

@SmashBall35 You need to use an amiibo, make that mii the owner of said amiibo, Scan it into the switch you want and boom!

Ohhh 😂 I totally forgot/didn’t see that option. Thanks for your help!

@Snatcher
Ok. Thank you!! Not all amiibo will have a mii though, right?

@SmashBall35 : Snatcher's point only refers to transferring Miis from 3DS/Wii U to Switch. You don't need amiibo to transfer Miis between Switches.

@Silly_G I was surprised my Miis didn't transfer to my new OLED. I assumed they'd transfer with my main account. Thanks for the heads up on where to go to "Send/Receive" Miis. My Miis are now on my OLED now. Job complete. Yay!

@WoomyNNYes : Yeah. Miis are tied to your console and are independent of your user profile/NNID, so you will need to manually transfer your Miis, similar to how software updates work (where you need to download/transfer all updates from scratch on your new console).
