I was just thinking, and came to a couple revelations. At E3 of 2010, Atlus announced a Persona 3DS title in the works... A few weeks ago it was announced that Persona 5 has been in development since March of 2010, a month (or two) before E3... Coincidence? Seeing the last song on the SMTIV album is called "Reincarnation" (which is associated with the re-released special albums for the Persona titles), I think that is just another pointer at P5 being a 3DS title... The real icing on the cake, however, would be for Nintendo to buy Atlus (which we all know is a VERY likely possibility). Atlus has recently only been launching titles on the 3DS, including many titles that almost everyone has come to know and love, including the newly-released SMTIV... People usually say "OH, but Atlus is doing Dragon's Crown"... Well... Nope, Atlus is the publisher of that title, but it is being made by Vanilla Ware. Atlus is also in slight-partnership with Nintendo while they work on FE x SMT... I guess what I am trying to say is, Nintendo buying Atlus will most likely happen, and Persona 5 will most likely make it's home on our 3DS'... Which I don't mind in the least, more reason to love it. I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
My concern is that if Nintendo buy Atlus they'll put them to work for the Wii U trying to help their struggle console instead of making their work for 3DS which is much better suited for their games

Yeah, that's an understandable concern... I honestly would not be that concerned about it, however... Look at Monolith Soft, Nintendo bought them and told them to basically do whatever, and then Xenoblade was born... I'd love to see some more SMT on Nintendo platforms, and honestly, Persona U would probably sell a LOT of consoles... However, as of now, it would appear Persona 5 is going to be on 3DS... Which is great!

I never said that Persona 5 is IN FACT on 3DS... Read the first post. Just the facts that Persona 3DS was announced as in development at E3 2010 and that Persona 5 has been in the works since March of 2010... Those two things are kinda telling. There is no 100% confirmation of this, but with Atlus in partnership with Nintendo, SMTIV was 3DS exclusive, 3DS is the most popular system in Japan, portable RPGs are also popular in Japan, AND the two events of the E3 announcement and the recent reveal that it's development started two months before that... There are a lot of things pointing to P5 being a 3DS title... It's all speculation, but there's a LOT to back it up... And if Nintendo buys Atlus, thats a double-positive that it will be...
I of course would love for this to be true as right now Atlus is 2nd only to Nintendo for me. I now own all Atlus made games on the 3ds and look forward to millennium girl and the 3ds remake of Devil Survivor 2 (hopefully). Do it! Come on Nintendo you know you want to!!

To me it doesn't seem likely that Persona 5 is Persona 3DS, instead I suspect Persona 3DS has been quietly axed or at least put on indefinite hold. Persona's always been on Sony. There's never been a main series game (I'm not counting Arena, btw) which hasn't been exclusive to a Sony console. It's far more likely that the 3DS game would be a spinoff at best.
I'm a cynic though, so you might not want to trust me.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
i have never played a game by Atlus, though i want to really badly. thing is though, i dont have much money right now, and games are expensive, and i have games i'm more focused on buying, so unfortunately it'll be a while before i experience the apparent joy that is Atlus. though i've never played an Atlus game, everyone seems to love them, so i'm excited to eventually jump on the bandwagon.
