Re: Swedish Speedrunner Breaks Record For Fastest Zelda: Majora's Mask Playthrough

@DerpSandwich For many games, there IS a glitchless category (mostly for runs with lots of big skips). Even if many people don't run it, anyone can run a glitchless run of a game and if noone has done so before, get the record. If people call you dumb for running a category that others don't run (so long as it's reasonable) then they are the dumb ones. Who knows, one person can even get more people to run the category for competition. It's the community that decides the categories, and it's not like the only type of speedrun is any%.

Bandages.... i guess modern devs think that adding bandages everywhere makes characters seem cool. There are bandages on their SHOES, for pete's sake! That doesn't even make sense! Knuckes is the only one where bandages even make sense, since he actually gets into real combat. Also, nothing screams cool more than a pink hedgehog in a miniskirt -_-

Re: NES Remix Miiverse Contest Cancelled Due To Emergence Of Exploit

@unrandomsam The difference is that one is a speedrun in which the community agrees on a set of glitches and bugs that they can use to exploit the game and get the fastest time. These usually take actual skill to execute. You are EXPECTED to cheat the game to beat it that fast. Most speedrunners do it for the fun and the community, not just to win.

This is a competition in which there was no agreement upon bugs or glitches that could be used, and along with that, the way they say it makes it sound like it was a Miiverse posting bug rather than a game exploit. This WAS purely a competition to win, and as such, things like this arent allowed.

Speedrunning and cheating in a competition are NOT the same thing.
