Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Everything You Missed

Another PokéScarVi (that's Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, don'tcha know) trailer has dropped, and we've got our magnifying glass in hand and speculation cap on, ready to dissect it into tiny little parts.

Below we break down every detail we've found in the recent trailer. Shall we get going?

Everything You Missed In The New Pokémon Trailer

Well, make sure you've seen the trailer first:

And catch up on our dissections of the last two trailers, if you missed them (surely not!):

Auto Battling

You can now send out your Pokémon into the field to auto-battle wild Pokémon without your direct supervision. This means they can earn Exp. Points and find items while you do other things!

From the website:

"You can have one Pokémon out and walking with you in the Paldea region’s great outdoors. When you have a Pokémon exploring with you in the field, you can use the “Let’s Go!” feature to send that Pokémon off in the direction you indicate. The Pokémon you send out then independently picks up items in the area and even has Auto Battles with nearby Pokémon."

"When your Pokémon is out and engaging in Auto Battles, you can do what you want—stay by its side to watch over it, or try looking for items nearby. By defeating wild Pokémon in Auto Battles, your Pokémon can also earn items and Exp. Points!"

The Three Stories

We speculated on this earlier, and we were right on the money in places! It looks like the three stories will be:

  1. Victory Road
  2. Starfall Street
  3. Path of Legends

Read on to find more about each one!

Victory Road

If you've played a Pokémon game, you know this one already. Fight through eight Pokémon gyms (in any order!) to ascend the ranks of the Pokémon League and become the Champion.

You'll have to complete a Champion Assessment at the HQ once you've beaten all the gyms, of course, and beat the imposing chairwoman of the Pokémon League, Ms. Geeta. There are also Gym Tests in each gym, which you can find out more about below.

It seems like your school friend Nemona will be helping you to achieve Champion rank!

Gym Tests?!

Before you can fight the gym leaders, you have to pass "gym tests" — which seem to be non-violent ways of proving your skill with Pokémon. Each gym has a different test, but for the Artazon Gym, it'll be a matter of rounding up the Sunflora across town. Why? No idea.

★ Starfall Street ★

As we predicted, there will be a Team Rocket-like squad for you to beat — except rather than evil masterminds, Scarlet and Violet have Team Star, who are rebellious, delinquent students at your school. Somehow, they all have their own bases that you'll need to take down — a bit like a bandit camp in an RPG, but with a time limit. You can use Auto Battles to make this slightly easier on yourself.

It also looks like these teams will each have a type, as we were shown the "Team Star Fire Crew"... which seems a bit similar to gyms, doesn't it? Hmmm.

The bosses of each camp will be riding in a car called a Starmobile, which you also have to defeat, alongside their Pokémon. Yes, you have to beat up the cars.

Now we know who owns the car

It's Mela, leader of the Team Star Fire squad. But also... maybe the car is a Pokémon? We know you have to beat it, so that would make sense... and it sure looks like it has a face!

Path of Legends

The Path of Legends is the most unusual and unique story of the three. It concerns Herba Mystica, which are rare Paldean ingredients that immediately restore health once eaten. These are guarded by Titan Pokémon — huge, strong versions of ordinary Pokémon that you'll have to defeat to succeed in your culinary quest.

This quest is led by your school friend and budding master chef, Arven!

New Characters Revealed

Brassius

The leader of the Artazon Gym, a region that specialises in flowers and art. Brassius chooses his team based on their aesthetics, and judges trainers looking to challenge him in the same way. His specialty is Grass-type Pokémon.

Mela

Head of the Team Star Fire crew, Mela drives a custom car called a Starmobile and runs the Schedar Squad. We can probably assume she prefers Fire-type Pokémon.

Ms. Geeta

The chairwoman of the Paldean Pokémon League, Ms. Geeta is imposing yet mild-mannered, and very tall. She is one of the best Pokémon Trainers in the region.

New Pokémon Revealed

New Paldean Pokémon have arrived: Ceruledge, Armarouge, and Klawf! We don't know a whole lot about them, like whether they're legendaries or semi-legendaries, and if we catch them or discover them through the plot, but for all the info we have so far, check out these stories:

Titans

Well, we know about Cetitan — the new land whale Pokémon — and now we know about Klawf, who is also referred to as a "Titan". This appears to be a new kind of Pokémon, which is much larger and stronger than usual... even though that's apparently what Dynamax Pokémon were, too. It's confusing. Don't worry about it.

Returning Pokémon Revealed

We spotted some newly-confirmed returning Pokémon in there, too — namely, Sudowoodo, Oricorio, Shroomish, Sunkern, Goomy, Sligoo, Komala, Salamence, Sneasel, Weavile, Hypno, Drowzee, Dunsparce, Magikarp, Gyarados, and probably more that we didn't even see.

Again, here's the full list:

Maps??

Looks like the Rotom Phone has a map, and the ability to set waypoints! Fun!!
