Starting today, 7th December, Pokémon GO is hosting a new event called 'Dragonspiral Descent' which sees Druddigon appear in-game for the first time.

A Dragon-type Pokémon that was first introduced in Pokémon Black and White on Nintendo DS, Druddigon has arrived as part of the ongoing Season of Heritage celebrations. The Dragonspiral Descent event runs from today until Sunday 12th December at 8pm local time – here's a teaser:

Success! A part of the mysterious door located at the historical cave site has been activated!

The rumbling caused by the movement of the door’s locking mechanism disturbed the Pokémon living within the cave—and with them appeared Druddigon, a Pokémon never before seen in Pokémon GO! Druddigon, the Cave Pokémon, is known to dwell within the Unova region’s Dragonspiral Tower.

Upon further inspection, Professor Willow has deduced that many of the emerging Pokémon are also known to call Dragonspiral Tower their home! Professor Willow also believes the unprecedented surge of Fire-, Electric-, and Ice-type Pokémon appearances may somehow be connected to Unova’s Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon: Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem!

You can earn an encounter with Druddigon by completing a brand new Collection Challenge, added to the game as part of the event. You'll also earn 1,000 XP and 3,000 Stardust for doing so.

Druddigon will also be appearing in three-star raids which have shifted as part of the event:

The following Pokémon will be available to encounter in raids.
