Recently, Netflix just picked up a Live-Action Legend of Zelda series. The thought of Zelda going towards a narrative driven medium like TV is exciting. But Live-Action? I'm not sure. With a world as imaginative and timeless as Hyrule, I think a Cartoon would do it much better justice. It doesn't have to be anything like the 80s cartoon, as that was made at a time when animation was in a creatively bankrupt era. A sort of Over the Garden Wall type mini series on Cartoon Network or Disney XD could work. Still, we'll have to see what this thing looks like first, before making any judgements.
Yeah, I also want an animated Zelda over a live action one. But still on Netflix, CN hates action shows, and Disney XD treats acquired shows like garbage, and Nickelodeon only makes shows for dumb people. So Netflix is the best bet.
Like I said before, Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino would be the perfect people to make an animated Zelda show.
Avatar is probably the best result, I'm quite worried about how meat head American actors will wreck any redeeming qualities the show had. That and the CG are my biggest concerns, but if they can make them work then it could be great. A 2D anime would probably be easier to pull off, though.
Can you really blame Nickelodeon though? Anyway, if their was to be a animated Zelda series, I hope it would be on Cartoon Network and have Toon Link instead of the normal Link.

Yeah, I'd definitely prefer animation. There are some shows that are good for animation and some that are good for live-action and Zelda is good for animation.
Plus, Zelda characters have to look a specific way so since they're doing live action, the actors have to both look AND act like the characters.

Yeah, it seems a lot easier to do as an anime, as there's be more control over all aspects of the show (whereas the laws of physics have a more direct influence on a live action production). The trouble is Netflix probably doesn't have many business connections with Japanese anime studios, whereas they do know how to make a live action show.
If the live action idea falls through I really, really just want the to contract Studio Mir and go ham on it. Live action could work out, but it'll be rather expensive sets and CG-wise, whether or not it's good.
What I'm really worried about is the sheer amount of vitriol and death threats the actor that inevitably voices / plays Link will get from the morons among the Zelda traditionalist group. It will be like what the kid playing Anakin in the Phantom Menace got, except amplified by the popularization of the internet in the last 15 years.
If it pans out, I think a live action version could be really cool. As for CG budgeting, maybe season one focuses more on the Hylians & Gerudos (the most human races) with some allusion to the other races, and if it goes well (resulting in a bigger budget) they could introduce the others in subsequent seasons.
It would work well as an anime too, though.

Toon Link and his world is really cartoony, even the really dark enemies don't look really deadly. It really would translate better than any other Zelda style.

See, to me it's almost not Zelda without gorons and OoT-style zoras (not those ugly green abominations from the early Zelda games). So I hope they can work them in somehow, be it anime or really good CG / practical effects.

Oh god i can imagine the Gorons being in live action, just terrible i hope they use CGI for them and the Zoras if they appear in the new show.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
