Welcome to Nintendo Life's eShop Selects!

Here we pick three of the best Switch eShop games we've reviewed in the last month and highlight them on a digital podium. Whether they take home the bronze, silver, or gold, you can be sure that the eShop games below — along with our round-up of runners-up — are worthy of your precious time and money.

Let's take a look at the games that made the grade this month.

Honourable Mentions:

While these titles didn't quite make our top three this month, they're still certainly worth checking out.

3. VVVVVV (Switch eShop)

VVVVVV still feels every bit as fresh on the Switch as it did on the 3DS in 2010; if you didn't try it back then you should definitely pick it up now. If you did, now may nevertheless be a good time to revisit.

Multiplayer makes the Switch version even more interesting, and this is a game that still serves up an intense and enjoyable challenge. Fantastic value and a great addition to any Switch library.

2. Mantis Burn Racing (Switch eShop)

It could benefit from some more tracks and environments, but Mantis Burn Racing offers simple-to-play racing entertainment.

Regular racing is fun, but so are the other events, particularly the battle ones as you burn around trying to outrun a hail of bullets or perhaps purposely drop behind to take out your tormentor. As enjoyable as these modes are in single-player, they work even better against other people; online competition is a welcome inclusion, but the local modes add immensely to the appeal.

It's not quite 'Game Boy and Tetris' but 'Switch and Mantis Burn Racing' fit together well thanks to quick racing thrills and the options provided by an undocked console.

1. RIVE: Ultimate Edition (Switch eShop)

RIVE is a fantastic addition to the Switch eShop and stands as an amazing twin-stick shooter. Incredible presentation, tight gameplay, high difficulty, and lots of replayability combine for an unforgettable experience that we would highly recommend you check out.

Two Tribes outdid itself with its final game and although the company is sadly missed, it couldn’t have gone out with more of a bang.

How we decide our eShop Selects top three: To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a digital-only release on the Nintendo Switch eShop in that particular month, and must have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select the qualifying games based on their review scores.

Here, the top three were decided first based on their NL review score, and then by their User Rating on the site.
